FIRE CONTROL ORDER #2026-01

FIRE RESTRICTION

In accordance with Athabasca County Fire Services Bylaw 015-2023 section 8, a Fire Control Order is now in effect for lands within Athabasca County located outside the Forest Protection Area.

Due to recent fire activity and forecasted weather, a Fire Restriction is now in effect.

Under this Restriction:
โ€ขNew fire permits will not be issued.
โ€ขExisting fire permits will not be renewed.
โ€ขThe discharge Fireworks and Exploding Targets is prohibited.

For greater clarity, this Restriction does not include:
โ€ขFires in Bylaw compliant Fire Pits

Furthermore, residents are reminded to use extreme caution when recreating outdoors. Motorized vehicles travelling through dry grass can quickly start a fire with hot exhaust components. Campfires, while still allowed, are only permitted in designed fire pits and must comply with conditions listed in Section 7 of the Fire Services Bylaw.

This Fire Control Order comes into effect at 11 oโ€™clock a.m. on the 4th day of May 2026 and will remain in effect until amended or revoked by the proper authority of Athabasca County.
