[Spallumcheen, BC, June 12, 2026] The Township of Spallumcheen is notifying residents that Township staff are responding to an unexpected watermain break within the South Local Area Service located along Otter Lake Cross Rd.

Upon the advice of Interior Health, and in an abundance of caution, due to the watermain break and watermain shutdown, a boil water advisory has been issued for all residents within the South Local Area Service which encompasses both the Larkin Water System and Eagle Rock Water System.

The Okanagan Basin Water Board's "Make Water Work, Plant FireSmart™" campaign is back for 2026, and Spallumcheen residents are encouraged to take part.

The campaign focuses on three things that matter for our valley: protecting what matters, being water smart, and staying FireSmart.

A few ways to get involved:

🌱 Browse the Plant Collection (now with deer-resistant options!)

✍️ Take the pledge to be entered to win $1,000 toward a water-saving outdoor space

This year, two winners each take home a $500 gift card to a local Make Water Work partner of their choice, plus a $500 VISA gift card.

🚨 Stage 2 Water Restrictions in Effect 🚨

Stage 2 Water Restrictions are now in effect for the South Local Area Service. The North Local Area Service has already been under Stage 2 restrictions since June 4, 2026.

💧 These restrictions apply to properties located in the following water service areas:
• Eagle Rock
• Hankey
• Highland Park
• Lansdowne
• Larkin
• Pleasant Valley
• Round Prairie
• Silver Star
• Stardel

These measures are in place under Bylaw No. 2086, 2022 due to current regional drought conditions and will remain until conditions improve.

The full referral covers proposed road construction, cut block development, and road deactivation within the BC Timber Sales Okanagan-Columbia Forest Development Units.

Property tax notices are out, and the deadline to pay is Thursday, July 2nd. A quick reminder about the Home Owner Grant: if you're eligible, it has to be claimed every year through the Province before the due date.

A few important things to know:
✅ Claim through the Province of BC (not the Township)
✅ Even if your mortgage company pays your taxes, you still need to claim the grant yourself
✅ Missing the deadline counts as unpaid taxes and results in a 10% penalty
Most eligible homeowners qualify for the regular grant. Higher amounts may be available for seniors, veterans, persons with disabilities, and others.

The Township of Spallumcheen, in coordination with Interior Health and the City of Armstrong, has rescinded the Water Quality Advisory for the North Local Service Area, effective immediately.

At the same time, Stage 2 Water Restrictions are now in effect for the following water systems:
• Hankey
• Highland Park
• Lansdowne
• Pleasant Valley
• Round Prairie
• Silver Star
• Stardel

These restrictions are implemented under Bylaw No. 2086, 2022 due to current provincial drought conditions and will remain in place until conditions improve.

The Township of Spallumcheen's 2025 Annual Report is now available for public inspection. The report covers financial and statistical information from the 2025 fiscal year, along with operating highlights and Council's objectives for 2026.

The report will be presented at a Regular Council meeting:

The public is welcome to attend and ask questions, as set out in Sections 97, 98, and 99 of the Community Charter.
