Our goal as the Willow Lake Metis Association is to continuously be engaged with our members and the many levels of government, surrounding communities and industry to ensure our people have their voices heard in our journey for recognition and prosperity. We also feel it is critical to continue to document our land use and our culture, not only for future generations but to measure impacts that our people have endured over many years and continue to due to development and climate change in our region.

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Please join us on September 29, 2026 at Anzac Community School as we come together to remember the children who never made it home, honor residential school Survivors, and create space for reflection, learning, and community.

The ceremony begins at 10:30 AM and will include prayer, knowledge sharing, a moment of silence, and traditional drummers, followed by a feast at 11:30 AM.

Everyone is welcome to attend. 🧡

We are grateful to come together alongside Fort McMurray 468 First Nation, and Anzac School - Bill Woodward School for this important day of remembrance and truth.

Every Child Matters.
Truth must come before reconciliation.

Labour Day is a chance to recognize the people who build our Nation, literally and otherwise.

From the Citizens working in the trades and out on the land, to our Indigenous Guardians monitoring our waters and territories, to the staff running programs and services out of our office in Anzac, this Nation moves forward because people show up.

Our office is closed today in observance of the holiday. We'll be back Tuesday and happy to help.

To everyone doing that work today, thank you.
