Congratulations to one of our newest firefighters, Alex MacNeil!

Since joining ACVFD, Alex has shown great dedication, a strong willingness to learn, and a positive attitude toward helping wherever needed. His eagerness to get involved, support the department, and continue developing his skills has not gone unnoticed.

With some much-needed rain over the past week, our members took the opportunity to fine-tune their skills with our DNR gear and wildland truck.

Ongoing training is essential to ensuring we’re prepared to respond safely and effectively to wildland fires, whether in our own coverage area or while assisting neighbouring departments.

Training never stops, and we’re always working to be ready when the call comes—protecting our communities, supporting our fellow firefighters, and safeguarding the natural areas we all enjoy

How does this look for supper tomorrow?!

A huge thank you to Grub Love Co. for stepping up to support the fundraising efforts for the Antigonish Area Fire & Rescue Training Centre project.

This much-needed facility will provide firefighters from numerous departments across the region with access to quality training opportunities, helping them develop the skills and experience needed to better serve and protect their communities.

Support from local businesses like Grub Love Co. plays a vital role in making this project a reality. We greatly appreciate their commitment to strengthening emergency services and investing in the safety of communities throughout our region.

Come out, enjoy a great meal, and help support a project that will benefit firefighters and communities for years to come!

Today, members of our fire department had the opportunity to visit the Antigonish Education Center and spend some time with the students, showing them our firefighting equipment and talking about fire safety.

One of the most important lessons we shared was that firefighters are there to help. While our turnout gear, helmets, masks, and breathing apparatus can look intimidating, especially to young children, it’s important for kids to know that if they ever see a firefighter dressed in full gear during an emergency, they should run to the firefighter, not away from them.

By letting the students see and hear the equipment up close, we hope to make it a little less scary and help them feel comfortable recognizing firefighters as helpers when they need us most.

A big thank you to the staff and students for welcoming us. We always enjoy the opportunity to connect with our community and help keep everyone safe

Recall Notice

Transport Canada has issued a recall for certain 2023–2026 Hyundai and Genesis vehicles due to a possible front seatbelt anchor issue that could increase injury risk in a crash. Owners are encouraged to contact their dealer for inspection and repair details

: Do you drive a 2023-2026 Genesis or Hyundai?

The lower anchor for the front seatbelts may have been damaged during service and could detach in a crash. If not fixed, the risk of injury increases.
