ABCs play an important role in shaping programs, services, and decisions across the province - and this is a great opportunity to get involved.

While applications are accepted year-round, the deadline to apply for current board opportunities is October 20, 2026.

Doors open at 6:30. Please arrive early to sign in and register for the door prize.

Andy Pumphrey was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award this morning by Warden Nicholas MacInnis and Councillor Adam Baden-Clay.

Through her work with Theatre Antigonish, Music of the Night, Antigonish Culture Alive, the Antigonish Film Connection, and AARTEX, Andy has made a lasting impact on our local arts community - bringing people together and supporting creative initiatives.

This dog was picked up by municipal staff on September 10, 2026, on Trunk 4 between Exit 36A (Highway 104) and Paqtnkek.

Description:
Large (85 lb) black dog with white markings on the chest, white paws with freckles, and a white tip on the tail. Estimated to be 18 months to 2 years old. Intact male. No collar, microchip, tattoo, or other identification.

Municipal Council voted in favour of a Development Agreement at its meeting on September 8, 2026, allowing the construction of a single 40-to-60-unit apartment building at 21 Church Street Extension (Lot 1A, PID 01248673), West River, Antigonish County.

Appeals may be made to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board by an aggrieved person, an adjacent municipality, or the Provincial Director of Planning. Appeals must be submitted before midnight September 23, 2026.

Moving & Mingling Registration

Moving & Mingling is back! Registration for the Fall session will open on Wednesday, September 16 at 10 a.m.

Moving & Mingling is a free, eight-week fitness program offered three days a week for older adults followed by a social hour.
• Monday & Friday: Chair Yoga
• Wednesday: Aerobic Fitness

Class is hosted at St. Ninian Place and live streamed to the following locations:
• Arisaig Hall
• St. Andrews Community Centre
• Lakevale Mini-Trail Community Centre
• Parkland Antigonish
• Pomquet Community Centre
• Cheducto Lifestyle Complex
• Canso & Area Recreation Complex

📅 October 5th to November 27th
🕒 Class times: 10 to 10:45 a.m. with mingling to follow.

The Committee of the Whole meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. Both meetings will take place in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building (285 Beech Hill Road) and will be available online.

There will be a Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building (285 Beech Hill Road).

All meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend in person or virtually.
