Important Immigration Update: New 3-Year Extensions!

Great news for the Ukrainian community in Canada. As of April 1, 2026, the government has introduced special measures to help you stay and work safely.

If you arrived by Dec 31, 2024, you may be eligible to extend your open work permit for an additional 3 years.

Key takeaway for your application:
Make sure you use the specific codes “UKRAINE 2022” in your IMM 5710 form to ensure it’s processed under this public policy.

Passport expired? Don’t panic. While it’s better to renew first, IRCC is reviewing cases where renewals aren’t possible.

Stay safe, stay informed! 🇺🇦🇨🇦

**HIRING FOREIGN WORKERS SESSION WITH RCICs-ANTIGONISH **

We were delighted to host **Daisy D**g from and **Wendy Hughes from Macdonald Immigration** for an engaging session with community members interested in hiring — or being hired — through Temporary Foreign Worker programs.

The discussion covered key pathways including **LMIA**, the **Francophone Mobility Program**, and **International Mobility Programs**. It was an insightful and informative session that helped clarify important processes for both employers and prospective workers.

A special thank you to **Hareesh from ISANS** for joining us and sharing valuable insights. The support from **ISANS** for businesses continues to be immense, and we truly value this partnership.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this meaningful conversation on workforce opportunities and immigration pathways.

This week, in celebration of International Women’s Week, we were grateful to host a special yoga gathering for women in our community. With 15 participants from diverse cultural backgrounds—including India, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Nigeria, Iran, and Canada—this event was a beautiful reflection of the multicultural fabric that makes our community stronger.

Hosted by the Immigrant Support Program in collaboration with the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre, the session created a welcoming and supportive space where women could come together to connect, relax, and support one another.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful yoga instructor, Britt, for guiding us through a thoughtful and empowering practice.

This program aims to support integration and settlement by celebrating diversity and recognizing the valuable contributions immigrant women bring to our community. Together, we continue building a safe, inclusive, and thriving space where every woman can grow, connect, and shine.
