Journée Dugua de Mons Day!

The Town of Annapolis Royal will host an official celebration on June 18 featuring a flag raising in honour of Pierre Dugua, sieur de Mons. He was the merchant explorer who established the Habitation at Port-Royal in 1605, the first permanent European site north of Florida.

Dugua de Mons is responsible for the birth of the French language in North America. Port-Royal and the surrounding area is the Cradle of Acadie and the birthplace of Acadian culture. Join us for a piece of cake to commemorate this important figure in the history of Nova Scotia and Canada. 🍰

📸 Community Photo Project!

Residents of all ages in the Annapolis region are invited to submit photos of places that you love and treasure like beaches, forest trails, or a favourite landmark. And photos of spaces where you are noticing climate impacts - like storm damage, erosion or invasive species.

Your photos could help shape local climate action planning and may be featured in public plans, reports and other materials that support climate action in our region.

The Town of Annapolis Royal is working together with the Annapolis County and the Town Of Middleton along with the Clean Foundation on a Joint Climate Action Plan for the Annapolis region.

Deadline for submissions is August 31, 2026.

Events will be held at Fort Anne to honour the living treaties and bring together Mi’kmaq leadership, Elders, youth, and community in a spirit of respect and shared responsibility. ANDREWS, NEW BRUNSWICK – During a ceremony at the Algonquin Hotel in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, on the evening of May 27, 2026, the Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment presented 17 international awards to honor individuals and organizations that have made a significant difference in protecting the health and sustainability of the Gulf of Maine watershed.
