🚭 Proper cigarette disposal matters. Never put cigarette butts in potted plants, soil, mulch or dry vegetation—they can smoulder and start a fire. Always fully extinguish in a non-combustible ashtray and ensure they’re out with water or sand before discarding. 🚒

⛈️ Severe Thunderstorm Risk This Afternoon & Evening Across Parts of Southern Ontario

Our first severe weather setup of this warm stretch is expected to unfold this afternoon and evening as thunderstorms develop over Michigan and track into our region.

The greatest risk currently appears to be across areas near Lake Huron, Georgian Bay and parts of Central Ontario, where storms could produce damaging wind gusts, large hail up to toonie size and even an isolated tornado.

A secondary cluster of storms may also impact parts of Deep Southwestern Ontario later today with damaging wind gusts being the primary concern.

Not everyone in the risk area will see severe weather, but conditions will be supportive of some intense storms if they hold together into Ontario.

We’ll be LIVE throughout the event on YouTube with real-time radar tracking, warning updates and storm coverage. If severe weather is heading your way, Instant Weather is the place to be for the most comprehensive coverage.🌪️

Amherstburg Fire Department crews are training with Enbridge today at the Amherstburg solar farm, building our knowledge and readiness for emergencies on the property.
The session is covering site-specific safety hazards in the solar field, including electrical risks unique to photovoltaic systems, and tactics for safely managing fires involving solar infrastructure. Solar facilities present challenges that differ from traditional structure or vehicle fires, and hands-on familiarization with the site, equipment, and shutdown procedures is essential for crew safety and effective response.
Thank you to the team at Enbridge for hosting our crews and sharing their expertise. Partnerships like this strengthen our preparedness and help keep both our firefighters and the community safe.
