Yay!
A step forward for 👏
For the first time, South Korea is officially recognizing same-sex couples in its national census.
As of October 22, partners of the same gender can now be listed as “spouses” or “cohabiting partners.” It’s a major step for + visibility and inclusion, with the Ministry of Data and Statistics calling it a milestone for representation. Advocacy groups across the country are celebrating the move as a “historic decision.”
South Korea still doesn’t legally recognize same-sex marriage or offer full anti-discrimination protections, but this is a step toward a future where every kind of love counts.
