Last night our members were joined by members and apparatus from Tidnish Bridge Fire to conducted some nursing operations training. 🚒

This process allows tankers to feed a pumping apparatus without the need of drafting from a portable tank. Our setup had Brush 3 drafting from a “water source” and supplying Tanker 3. Tanker 3 was supplying Pumper 3 which in turned supplied Tidnish Tanker 1 acting as the attack apparatus. The apparatus operators were not in sight of each other so all communications were conducted using radios (TMR). We rotated teams between trucks to ensure everyone had the opportunity to use different equipment and operate at a different place in the sequence.

Nursing operations are a great option for a quick initial response with low staffing and for long narrow access areas, such as cottage lanes. This is just another tool in our firefighting toolbox!

This weekend we had four members attending Fire Investigation for First Responders by Sustainable Training Solutions - STS in Pugwash. 🔥

This training is critical for officers and firefighters in order to be part of an accurate and effective team for determining the origin and cause of fires. Determining cause is more often not about blame, but about learning, improving and better protecting our communities.

A huge thank you to Pugwash Fire Department for hosting the training and providing a delicious lunch. We were joined by fellow brothers and sisters from Parrsboro Volunteer Fire Department, Southampton Volunteer Fire Department, Oxford Fire, Springhill Fire and Pugwash Fire.

A special thanks to the moms in the room that gave up their special day to attend this training and the moms at home that tolerated their children or partners attending 🌸

We recently purchased 25 sets of coveralls for our members. Used for a multitude of events, wildland, vehicle extrication,off road calls. They are a vital part of PPE for our group.
