🏊‍♂️ NEW PROGRAM ALERT – SWIM PATROL! 🏊‍♀️

Has your child completed Swimmer 6 but isn’t quite ready for Bronze Medallion yet? We now offer Swim Patrol!

Swim Patrol is the perfect next step for swimmers ages 10–13 looking to build confidence, endurance, and lifesaving skills beyond traditional swimming lessons.

This 1-hour progressive program combines:
⭐ Rookie Patrol
⭐ Ranger Patrol
⭐ Star Patrol

Participants will continue improving their swimming strokes while developing:
✔️ Swimming endurance & efficiency
✔️ Fitness & timed swim skills
✔️ Introductory lifesaving techniques
✔️ Basic first aid knowledge

Swim Patrol helps bridge the gap between swimming lessons and future Bronze certification courses!

📌 Prerequisite: Must have completed Swimmer 6

We’ve made a few exciting additions this year:
Swim Patrol – a new class for swimmers who have completed Swimmer 6 but aren’t quite old enough to enroll in for Bronze programs
Session #7 – an evening session at the end of August for select levels

The Altona Recreation Office was happy to support Elmwood School’s annual “I Love to Read” Read-a-Thon with prize donations — and even happier to be part of their kickoff assembly on Monday, February 2nd.
A huge thank-you goes out to Shelby Penner and Jacob Friesen-Stoesz, staff members at the Aquatic Centre and students at .C. Miller Collegiate, who took time out of their schedules to visit with students. Shelby and Jacob spoke about water safety, answered great questions, and helped kick things off with some reading to a gym full of very engaged listeners.
It’s always great to see our local youth stepping up as leaders and role models, and to partner with schools on initiatives that promote both literacy and safety in our community.

The lifeguards celebrated the pool season this week with our annual lifeguard olympics!

Thank you to everyone who supported the pool this year through public swim, aquasize, swimming lessons and fitness lengths. We are so grateful for you all!
