Premier dancers - we need you! We don't have Championships in a couple of our age classes at the new Lakeshore Championship at Northumberland Scottish Festival & Highland Games.

Port Hope is only 3 hours from Ottawa, Cornwall, and London. It's about 3.5 hours from Owen Sound and just under 3 hours from Niagara Falls. The Championship is scheduled for the afternoon so you don't even need a hotel room.

Please come out and support this great local Games and inaugural Championship. Registration is online at www.hdaontario.com (click on Events under the Events tab). You do not need to be an HDAO Member to compete.

Registration closes this Friday June 5 at 10pm.

🎉 Recital Day is Here! 🎉

Today is the day we’ve all been working toward! We can’t wait to celebrate another wonderful year of dancing with our amazing dancers and families.

📌 Important Reminders:

✅ Volunteers arrive at 10:00 AM for set-up.

✅ Dancers arrive at 10:30 AM with:
• A bagged lunch
• All costume pieces and dance requirements
• A water bottle
• Hair already in a bun and performance-ready

🚪 Doors open to guests at 1:15 PM

💃 Show starts at 1:30 PM

🍪 Contributions to our snack table are greatly appreciated.

🎟️ Don’t forget to bring cash for our 50/50 Draw!

👗 We will also have a Buy, Sell & Trade Dancewear Table, so bring any gently used dance items you’d like to pass along to another dancer.

🙋 Volunteers are still needed for:
• Ticket sales before the show
• Tear-down and clean-up following the recital

Any help is greatly appreciated and helps make the day run smoothly for our dancers and families.

This is our LAST week of regular classes before recital weekend! 🎉

Our Year-End Recital takes place THIS SATURDAY at Angus Arena, and we are so excited to celebrate another amazing dance season together. Newsletters will be sent home tonight. 

💳 Please ensure you collect any of your missing items and that all outstanding fees are paid this week, including:
• Regular class fees
• Private lesson fees
• Competitive class fees
• Any remaining exam fees

🎟 Recital tickets are available in advance by cash or e-transfer.

📍 Recital Day Reminder for ALL dancers:
• Drop off Saturday morning at Angus Arena
• Please arrive with:
✔ Bagged lunch
✔ Costumes in hand
✔ Bottle of water
✔ Hair already in a bun
✔ Wearing something comfortable they can dance in

Join us for our SDGHDA Highland Dance Competition at the Maxville Fair on June 28, 2026 which will be held at the Kenyon Agricultural Society Fairgrounds, 35 Fair Street, Maxville ON.

Get ready for a day of music, movement, and Highland tradition!

Entry deadline: Friday, June 19, 2026 at 11:45 pm or when capacity limits (125 dancers) have been reached. If maximum registration has not been met, late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Organizer up to 48-hours in advance of the event and a $20 late fee would apply. NO REFUNDS.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues registering please advise us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment by emailing [email protected]. Our previous competition reached the maximum amount of dancers fairly quickly so please register as soon possible!

🎭 Annual Recital – Ceilidh 🎭

Our annual recital is on Saturday, May 30!
Doors open at 1:15 PM and tickets are $23 per person. Angus Arena

We are welcoming volunteers of any age to help with:

* Set up
* Tear down
* Contributions to the snack table

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dancers are to be dropped off in the morning (time to be determined) with:

* All costumes in hand for the full rehearsal
* A bagged lunch prior to the show

We were delighted to perform once again at the annual Ernest Cumberland Elementary School Multicultural Night! We’ve been fortunate to take part in this wonderful event for the past few years, and it’s always such a fantastic celebration of culture, community, and connection.

A special thank you to Isla and her beautiful Scottish roots presentation — absolutely stunning! And thank you to Rory for the wonderful piping that added so much to the evening. Maybe next year Laura can join her daughter on stage! 😊

It was wonderful to see so many cultures represented, hear the music, and taste the amazing food from around the world.

If your student’s school doesn’t currently host a multicultural night and you’d like your child to participate in cultural performances, perhaps you would consider Highland dancing!

Way to go, dancers — we are very proud of all of you! 💙
