Anyone who knows me, knows that Im a very hard worker, I don’t back down from a task and am very passionate about what I believe in and will fight tooth and nail for it; and I am very passionate about our community and I believe in Airdrie's future.

Firstly I want to congratulate Heather Spearman on an excellent race and on becoming the Mayor of Airdrie. Also to all the other candidates on the sacrifice, and hard work they put in these last few months.

To the new city council, take to heart what everyone who ran against you was saying. You may not agree with it, but enough people in Airdrie spoke those concerns to them for them to run in this election. To the runner-ups, our job is not done. We must hold council accountable, and make sure Airdries voice is heard if they choose not to hear. That is democracy.

To all my supporters and people who voted for me.... THANK YOU SO MUCH! This was an amazing experience and the hardest thing I have done in my life to date. I could not have done it without your support, and help. I will forever be in your debt, and maybe call on you again in 4 years..😉

And lastly a big thanks to my family for the love and support they gave me. My eldest daughter saying how proud she is of me no matter what happens, my son helping to put up signs and take them down past midnight, to my youngest daughter saying its ok that she can't be the little mayor as long as I'm her daddy still day after the election, have filled me with so much pride and love. But my wife was my rock and guiding light thru this. She does not like public life and is very private, but she stood firm and supported me like never before. I may not have won the election, but have already won something bigger.

Now back to your normal scheduled programming.....Anyone need a bouncy castle to rent, I may know a guy!

Airdrie, tomorrow you have the chance to stay the course or vote for change. The most important is to vote. No matter who or what platform they stand for. Vote. The minute we become complacent in this, is when people see the chance to take it away.

With that being said, I want to say it has been an honour to run for mayor for our great city. Being able to meet so many people and listening to their questions and concerns, to having complete strangers come up to me and give me their support has been the highlight of my first foray into politics.

So Airdrie, if undecided I am asking for your vote. I am a hard working blue collar stiff. Not a politician or a political ladder climber. I’m a small business owner, with a young family who is tired of the status quo of not enough recreational facilities, year after year of property tax increases, and a city hall that doesn't listen to anyone. If your argument is that I have no mayoral experience, well none of the candidates do. What I do have is an extremely hard work ethic, a stubbornness to get any job done, common sense approach with conservative ideals toward spending and a leadership quality that will always look outside the box for a solution and find away to bring the best out of people and get everyone to work together. I am one of you, and will be your voice.

Thank you for listening and supporting me throughout this campaign.

When I started this I was worried about what will happen when the candidates start mud slinging and dragging families in it. Based on what I saw on the media and down south that’s what I thought might happen. I was wrong. Not only did all the candidates run amazing campaigns, but they were all caring and supportive of each other. I myself have made new life long friends (squeaky wheel, and my man with style and others…ifykyk), but found surprising relationships and people to talk to when the road was rough! (Heather we are so going for that beer you promised after this is over). So to every person who ran in this election for all the positions, THANK YOU! You are amazing, wonderful people, who only wanted to serve the community and make a difference for Airdrie. I will always have respect for all of you and very special place in my heart for you.

So what was the downside?….The only thing that was hard for me and my family, wasn’t the crazy hours, the hard work, public spot light…..it was certain people on this platform. I watched people on FB from all sides attacking other candidates relentlessly. I myself have been compared to white supremists and separatists. Most of the attacks did come from one certain political leaning, but all sides had them. None of the candidates brought political leaning or religion into this. The voters asked. I answered truthfully, some declined to answer, AND THATS OK! I respect them for not saying. Its there choice. But either way, to attack, make comments or bait someone based on their answer is wrong. None of these key board warriors wanted get to know the candidate they targeted on a personally level, just that they may disagree with them on a political level and that’s all that mattered. They never considered that our family may have seen the comments made here on FB and that it might affect them. WE as candidates have to have thick skin to do this, but no where did it say my family had to as well. All of us have sacrificed our business, jobs, family time to serve the democratic institution and serve our city. I highly recommend all of you “highly respected” keyboard warriors out there (you know who you are) to maybe next time, get to know the people on personal level, remember that we all have families, maybe be a little more human, and instead of sitting on your phone or laptop thinking about what you can say next that attacks any candidate, why not next election….actually get the courage to run and see what its like from our side or actually work positively for the persons campaign that you support. Just an idea. And if you think your comments to me personally hurt me politically, sorry they didn’t. I received a lot of messages of support from and votes from people from the way I responded to your comments. So in the long run Thanks for the votes!!!!! And if I win tomorrow, just know that I will represent you as equally as every other person in our city, and will invite you to meet for a coffee to answer any questions, voice your concerns and so you can get to know me….as a person. Which is all that matters.

Just a thought about small business and our Youth:
So small business is a big concern for me. Some of the things I have thought about :
Better communication and an actual support and response group at city hall
Reduce red tape and permit wait times.
Reduce permit costs for small/home business
Programs that promote Airdrie owned/staff business??(not sure if possible but we need it)
Promote small businesses that are in dire straits to focus community attention, and offer business mentorship (don't just say "awe! to bad they closed" from city hall)
When a city tender comes available, all Airdrie businesses can sign up for notifications to become aware before it becomes public so they can bid.
As for youth, my eldest had nothing to do and couldn't find a job. She had to move back with her mother in Calgary to find work. We need to find something in the city for our youth. The 7/11 parking lot is not the answer. Some small cities have "youth" centers, so that's something to look at. Maybe reduce fees at rec centers, transit (with better times and routes). Maybe a joint venture with the games and entertainment places like glitch, apple and paradise lanes, where teens get a cheaper cost and the city subsidizes it. That way we are helping small businesses and our youth at the same time.

If elected, I will bring forward a proposal to City Council to build a new separate indoor pool and hockey rink within two years of approval, at an estimated cost of $15–30 million, depending on resident input and facility features (50meter lane pool, stainless steel not concrete pools, water slides)

Over the past month, I’ve spoken with municipalities and construction companies to find a cost-effective, fast-to-build solution to Airdrie’s recreation shortage. Our planned recreation centre won’t be fully completed until 2036 — by then, my own children will be nearly adults.

These new buildings are a type of structure that is built here in Alberta and used around the world. They are used in Florida where they have to withstand hurricane force winds and down in Calgary at the edge school where they are subject to extreme cold and summer hail storms.

With only one pool and five rinks serving a city of almost 100,000 people, Airdrie needs new facilities now — not a decade from now. This proposal offers a practical, revenue-generating solution that delivers what families need today while keeping costs responsible for taxpayers. This price is before we approach the province and federal government for grants as well as our commercial partners for donations. I can think of at least one NHL team that would love to have their name on a new rink in our city.

This is the type of common sense approach, conservative fiscal responsibility and the willingness to think outside the box to find a solution to a problem that I will bring to city council if elected.
