This Week at the Abbotsford Chamber…

➡️ The Women’s Leadership Community (WLC) hosted Brand Blueprint: Build, Design & Define Your Personal Brand lead by Megan Ashley Faber and Yovini Moodley. It was an inspiring evening of learning, connection, and networking as we gained practical tools to define their personal brand, strengthen their digital presence, and explore how AI can help amplify their voice while staying authentic.

➡️ CEO Alex Mitchell was in Brussels this week with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, joining business leaders from across Canada to strengthen economic ties with the European Union and discuss the future of global trade where she also met with Ambassador Jean-François Tremblay Permanent Representative of Canada to the OECD in Paris.

Despite a bit of rainy weather, our Annual Agriculture Tour was a great day visiting Bos Sod Farms Inc, Nature’s Pride (Friesen Group of Companies), and Singletree Winery. It was a valuable opportunity to connect and see the diversity and innovation across our agriculture sector.

We also stopped at Field House Brewing Co. where we enjoyed a delicious lunch and heard from the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food, Lana Popham, who shared her thoughts on the future of agriculture in British Columbia.

Thank you to BC Blueberries for being our Leading Industry Sponsor and supporting the tour.

Flood Mitigation Infrastructure for the Fraser Valley continues to be one of our key advocacy priorities on behalf of our members.

Last week our CEO, Alex Mitchell, facilitated a roundtable with MP Anthony Housefather Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience in Abbotsford so industry and community leaders could directly share the impacts of the 2021 and subsequent 2025 floods have had on business, industry, and community.

Sumas Prairie in Abbotsford is home to the most productive farmland in the country. The agricultural sector generates $3.83-billion in annual economic activity within Abbotsford and accounts for 23 per cent of jobs. It’s a strong and vibrant industry that supports economic growth and food security in British Columbia and Canada.

Our advocacy will continue as Federal investment in critical infrastructure to combat natural disasters is required to ensure this agricultural region remains productive for generations to come.

Thanks to Casey Prium BC Dairy, Spencer Whalen of Southern Rail SRY, Brad Driediger BC Chicken Marketing Board, Dr. James Mandigo University of the Fraser Valley - UFV, and Abbotsford Mayor Ross Siemens City of Abbotsford - The Hub Of The Fraser Valley for participating.

Stop #3 for our upcoming Agriculture Industry Tour: Singletree Winery

Singletree Winery is a family-operated vineyard dedicated to showcasing the incredible potential of local agriculture through premium BC wines. Built on generations of farming experience, the winery brings a deep appreciation for the land, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to quality into every bottle they produce.

The Fraser Valley’s warm summers, mild winters, and fertile soils create ideal growing conditions, allowing Singletree Winery to craft wines that reflect the unique character of the region’s terroir. Their focused portfolio includes signature favourites such as Siggy (Siegerrebe), Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, and Merlot, alongside specialty wines including Harness, a Bordeaux-style red blend, Victory sparkling wine, dessert Viognier, and Grüner Veltliner.

Each wine is thoughtfully crafted with a passion for winemaking that helps bring the flavours of the Fraser Valley to life. Through careful stewardship of the land and a commitment to innovation in agriculture, Singletree Winery continues to demonstrate what is possible within BC’s growing agri-business and wine industries.

You won’t want to miss the incredible stops we have lined up this year, and spots are limited.
