Abbotsford Chamber member Memento Mori Studios was featured on Global News this week as businesses prepare for the Province’s planned PST expansion planned expansion of the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) to professional services, warning the move will increase costs, and weaken B.C.’s competitiveness.
With this tax starting October 1, PST will apply to a range of services used by businesses, including accounting, engineering, security and commercial real estate. The impacts will be immediate and widespread, leading to higher operating costs on essential services, new administrative burdens as businesses manage a second tax system, increased costs for security amid rising theft and vandalism, and higher rents and project costs as these new taxes flow through the economy.
The Abbotsford Chamber continues to call on the Province to immediately scrap the expansion of the Provincial Sales Tax to professional services.
