The Lunch with the Bunch program is deeply saddened by the loss of their dear participant and volunteer, Joseph (Joe) Tompkins, who tragically passed away in a pedestrian accident on May 1st.

On May 8th, the group gathered to honour Joe’s memory with a small and meaningful tribute. In a touching moment, participants lifted Joe’s chair, an act inspired by a tradition of remembering a missing pilot, while sharing heartfelt stories and kind words about the impact he had on others within the program.

Last week, Joe’s family brought treats to the weekly session and shared stories and cherished memories of Joe. His kindness, warmth, and presence will always be remembered and greatly missed. ❤️🤍

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Eid al-Adha, the second and biggest of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam and today is the Day of ‘Arafah, one of the most sacred days in Islam. The Day of ‘Arafah is a day of deep spiritual reflection, often marked by fasting, prayer, and seeking forgiveness.

In the Islamic lunar calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijiah and lasts for four days, following the completion of the Hajj, which is the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. It is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, which often takes the form of service and selfless giving.

Traditionally, Eid is celebrated by visiting loved ones, exchanging greetings and gifts, and extending generosity to those in need.

To everyone observing, Eid al-Adha Mubarak! May this day bring peace, love, and countless blessings to you and your families.

Congratulations to the 2026 graduates of the New Beginnings Young Parent Program!

Last week, the program hosted its annual Thank You Tea, bringing together graduates, staff, and community partners to celebrate another successful year and honour those who supported the students on their journey to graduation.

A special thank you to the Abbotsford Quilters Guild for their beautiful quilt donations, which commemorate each graduate’s journey, and for generously awarding one graduate a $500 scholarship at the event to support their post-secondary studies.

A heartfelt thank you to Cindy Boury Private Wealth Management of Raymond James Ltd. for their continued support of Archway Family Centre’s Best for Babies program.

We are incredibly grateful for your ongoing commitment, including once again applying for the Raymond James Canada Foundation Grant on behalf of our program. The recent $2,500 grant will help provide essential infant supplies, while the $5,000 received in December has been instrumental in keeping our shelves well stocked.
