Did you know that RecEx came to be in 1999 when Tom Watson was the General Manager and Kathy Watson was a Lifeguard and sought-after Water Safety Instructor at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre? At that time, they formed a company called Rec Pro which in a year’s time morphed into Recreation Excellence, a company they have owned and grown together since.

Today, Recreation Excellence manages and operates multiple facilities in Western Canada. With 300+ staff, the company serves hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. The success of the company is based on the roots of why it was formed: to serve people in caring ways so that they, too, can enjoy breakthroughs and life-enhancing moments as they live their lives.

🌊 WATER SAFETY WEDNESDAY 🌊
That gorgeous flat pond might look appealing to slide right over, but it might be a serious hazard. When exploring, be sure to first consider:

🧊 Ice thickness is unpredictable if there is water flowing beneath the frozen top layer.
🧊Ice depth varies across the whole surface. It might appear thick in some areas, while other areas may have very thin or no ice.
🧊It’s difficult to see unsafe ice conditions from the surface.
🧊 Snow may be covering ice hazards.
🧊Water continuously flows beneath the surface, reducing ice integrity.

As Recreation Excellence's official fun-bunnies, Rowdy Rabbit and Rowdine Rabbit know how to have fun!
But people ask us... what's with the mascots?
Here's the thing…we're in the business of fun. Walt Disney created a legacy of fun by creating his little mouse that evolved into a multi-million-dollar business - based on fun.
The RecEx mascots, Rowdy and Rowdine, bring a little bit of that Disney feel to children, families, seniors, staff, and the facilities that we operate. As masters of fun, they also help build a happy and creative corporate culture. Over the years, Rowdy and Rowdine have brought smiles to thousands of faces and make special appearances on:

👉 posters
👉 brochures
👉 colouring pages
👉 and even as real, live mascots!
Children of all ages recognize Rowdy and Rowdine as they have become a Recreation Excellence phenomenon.
