REMINDER to submit logo designs by April 13: Children of Hope Society – 20th Anniversary Logo Design Contest

In 2026, the Children of Hope Society (COHS) will celebrate 20 years of ministry serving vulnerable children in Mexico. Over the past two decades, God has faithfully used this work to provide care, spiritual instruction, education, and practical support to many children through our five Children’s Homes and three Community Centres across Mexico.

As part of this milestone, we are inviting members of our community and those with creative gifts to participate in a logo design contest. The goal is to develop a refreshed logo that reflects the mission and heart of Children of Hope Society as we continue serving children in the years ahead.

Logo Design Submissions

We invite designers and creative individuals to submit an original logo concept for Children of Hope Society. The design should be clear, meaningful, and adaptable for use on our website, social media, printed materials, and ministry communications.

Submission Deadline

April 13, 2026

Our Annual General Meeting will take place at the end of April, where the submissions will be reviewed. The winning logo will be announced in May 2026.

The selected designer will receive a prize, and the design will become the official logo of Children of Hope Society.

Please send your design to:

[email protected]

If possible, include:

• Your logo design (submitted in various file types such as PNG, JPG, PDF, or vector formats such as AI, EPS, or SVG)

It has been an eventful weekend in Mexico, and not the kind we would hope for. While it is not entirely surprising that the cartel has responded in this way, similar situations have occurred in other regions of Mexico in the past.

We are thankful that none of our eight partner ministries have been harmed in any way. They are following the authorities’ directive to “shelter in place.” This is a very fluid situation, and Children of Hope Society is closely monitoring how events continue to unfold.

Please pray for Mexico, for its leaders, and for the armed forces as they respond to this situation.

We give thanks for our two board members in Ontario, Bill Opthof and Janelle Van Halteren, who have been participating in local job fairs and charity publicity events at Redeemer University, Heritage College, and Tyndale University. As Children of Hope Society continues to seek additional field staff to serve in Mexico, this kind of visibility is invaluable in helping raise awareness and keep our ministry on people’s minds. Thank you for your service!

As it celebrates its 20th year anniversary, the Children of Hope Society (COHS) is stepping into a new season of growth and maturity, guided by a ten-year Strategic Plan built around six key pillars. This plan was completed in October 2025 and at the core is a commitment to staying Christ-centred, making sure prayer, spiritual health, and biblical leadership shape everything the organization does. The plan also focuses on strengthening Mexican boards and supporting ministry staff through clearer roles, better training, and ongoing care, so Mexican and Canadian are equipped, supported, and able to work well together across cultures.

Alongside this, COHS is prioritizing stronger leadership presence in Mexico, deeper partnerships, and long-term sustainability. This includes improving communication between Canadian and Mexican leadership teams, growing donor and church relationships, and making fundraising and child sponsorship more effective. With careful, prayerful planning for future ministry sites and new care models, COHS aims to grow responsibly while staying faithful to its mission. Overall, these pillars reflect a desire to be more than a funding organization and transition into a genuine partner in ministry, helping ensure lasting, Christ-centred impact for children in Mexico.

Please pray for everyone involved in this ministry, both in Canada and Mexico, as they seek to faithfully live out the calling God has placed on their lives. We are also deeply thankful for Shepherd Consulting and Darren Roorda for guiding us through this process, and for all those, on both sides of the border, who have contributed their time, wisdom, and support along the way.

Below is a summary of the six key strategic pillars:

1. Spiritual Health & Missional Integrity

At the heart of COHS’s mission is a Christ-centred foundation. This pillar emphasizes care for staff and leadership through rest, retreats, and spiritual development. Training programs will integrate biblical leadership principles, and prayer will remain central to decision-making and organizational life. Directors and volunteers will receive pastoral support, ensuring that the work of COHS continues to flow from faith and missional clarity.

2. Board Development

Recognizing that strong governance sustains long-term vision, COHS is committed to equipping both its Canadian and Mexican boards with tools, training, and clear roles. Strategic oversight will be deepened through consistent evaluations, specialized roles, and alignment between budgets and mission priorities. Updated governance policies and training in financial literacy, trauma-informed care, and child discipleship will strengthen oversight across all ministry centres.

3. Staff Growth & Development

The plan underscores the importance of clear job descriptions, training, and support for missionaries, directors, and local staff. From pre-field missionary training to ongoing professional development in areas such as trauma-informed child care and fundraising, COHS seeks to empower its people with the skills and spiritual resilience they need. Clarity around roles will also reduce confusion and enhance cross-cultural collaboration.

4. Leadership

COHS will establish a stronger presence in Mexico to foster trust, strengthen relationships with government authorities, and support fundraising within the country. Orphanage directors will have structured input into strategic decisions, while the Executive Director will focus on oversight and partnership development. Regular coaching for leadership and improved communication between Canadian and Mexican offices will further align efforts.

5. Partnership Engagement & Fundraising

Building on a growing donor base, COHS will expand regional support in Canada, enhance church partnerships, and professionalize communications. A renewed emphasis on child sponsorship will make it more intentional and personalized, while broader marketing strategies, including rebranding and digital engagement, will connect supporters more deeply to the mission. Collaboration with parallel ministries will also expand fundraising capacity and training.

6. Site Development & Expansion

Looking ahead, COHS plans to grow by three additional ministry sites within seven years, while ensuring compliance with evolving Mexican regulations. Legal expertise will safeguard property ownership and non-profit status, and new care models will be explored in response to global shifts toward family-based care. Each
expansion will be prayerfully guided to balance opportunity with responsible stewardship.

How good God is! We are truly humbled. A short-term missions team of 20 people from Ontario visited the Esperanza para Ti children’s home from January 2–12. The impact they left was incredible. Their main project was completing the various finishing jobs in the new dormitory, including tiling, painting, electrical work, and other tasks. We are also deeply thankful for the donation of 600 pairs of shoes, which were distributed among the various COHS children's ministries in the Querétaro area. The next team, a FaithWorks team, arrives tomorrow, January 16. It will be a busy team season! Thank you, Lord!

Our God is so good! What an amazing Christmas outreach event took place at the Casa Otomi Community Centre on December 20, 2025. A total of 2,100 children received gifts from their sponsors. Our prayer is that everyone who attended also received the greatest gift of all, knowing their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is always humbling to see how God provides year after year for these children. What a powerful witnessing opportunity for all who were involved!

We give thanks to God for a local brick company in Querétaro that donated 21,000 concrete blocks (YES that number is correct; there isn’t an extra zero added by accident!). These blocks will be used to construct two new children’s homes (housing approximately 10 children per home), and a training center to train new foster parents at the Casa Infantil Ammi property in El Gallo, Querétaro. The municipality also helped by paying for the rental of the forklift to unload all the blocks! They now have all the blocks needed to build all of these buildings, but they still need YOUR help to make this vision a reality. Join a team and serve alongside us as we work together to bring this dream to life at Casa Infantil Ammi!

We give thanks for God’s hand of blessing upon the construction of the new three-storey dormitory at the Esperanza para Ti children’s home in Querétaro, Mexico. It is humbling to look back on the progress made over the past 2.5 years. More than 30 teams have contributed to this project, which will bless so many children!

The new facility will house up to 50 children and includes five caregiver suites, a laundry room, a homework/play area, and even a rooftop fitness gym. Lord willing, the building will be completed by April 2026, and the children will be able to move in soon after. Thank you, Lord! To You be the glory!
