Changing Lives Through the Power of Mentorship. Small Act, BIG Impact.

For just a few hours a month a volunteer can guide a child to succeed. Big Brothers Big Sisters is different from other mentoring organizations in that we provide professional and experienced support to our volunteers and families. We have one commodity that is unique and quantifiable – a system with nearly 100 years of experience nationally in mentoring children. All else that we do and that we are has been easily copied and delivered by someone else but the name and brand and systems of mentoring are what makes a BBBS mentor program distinct and gives it unique value. We carefully screen our volunteers with nationally recognized and approved processes. We ensure our programs meet the needs of our children and youth. We support our children and youth and are careful to determine whether our programs meet their needs, and provide referrals to other social services when further or different needs are identified. We provide care and concern to our families and community backing them with action. All volunteers are carefully and thoroughly screened including a mandatory criminal record check, driver’s abstract, and detailed interviews. They participate in a 4 - 5 hour child safety training session. Matches are monitored on a strict schedule with monthly contact including personal meetings with all individuals involved in the first six months and quarterly contact thereafter. After matches mature, at minimum, there will be annual in person meetings with the parent, child and volunteer. Mentoring coordinators are always available between the scheduled contacts to answer any questions or address any concerns.

💙 This September, let’s Make Life Bigger. 💙

September is Big Brothers Big Sisters Month, and we’re celebrating the incredible power of mentorship to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.

Mentorship doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, it’s simply showing up, listening, sharing a new experience, or reminding a young person that someone believes in them. These small moments can build confidence, open doors, and help young people see what’s possible.

✨ A conversation can become confidence.
✨ Showing up can build trust.
✨ Encouragement can inspire resilience.
✨ One caring relationship can change a life.

This September, we’re inviting our community to Make Life Bigger by getting involved. Whether you become a mentor, donate, volunteer, or help spread the word about the importance of youth mentorship, you can make a difference.

September 18 is Big Brothers Big Sisters Day!

Join us as we shine a spotlight on the incredible impact mentorship has in our communities.

💙 Together, we can make life bigger for young people across the Fraser Valley.

Did you know…

Value Village locations Chilliwack & Mission are our Community Partners? They donate a large sum of money to us each year, here’s how it works:

All of your lightly used clothing and household items are dropped off to one of these stores. These donations are then sorted, and weighed. The items are assigned a monetary value per lb, and then move to the next step.

This is where Value Village will sort through to see what they can sell in their stores, and what they will donate to another worthy cause.

The money from the previously weighed items will then calculated and will be given to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley at the end of the year.

Value Village is one of our largest donors and without their support, it would be hard for us to help as many young people in the Fraser Valley.

With your help, we can increase these funds and help even more kids! You can host a clothing drive at your workplace, and we’ll handle the pick up and delivery of the items.

Thank you for supporting our cause, and our community. Your small act makes a big impact.

Dakota and Tanpreet are heading into their second year of being matched together! Dakota says she feels special when she is with Tanpreet because she always pays attention and listens to her. She also shared that whenever she thinks a game might not be possible, Tanpreet always finds a solution to make her ideas come to life. Their match is full of creativity, connection, and a friendship that continues to grow.

💙 Support Fraser Valley youth this September and help us Paint the Valley Teal! 💙

September is Big Brothers Big Sisters Month, and we’re celebrating by partnering with Jaydee’s Clothing through their Wear It Forward initiative — a program that gives back to local charities while helping raise awareness for causes that matter in our community.

This month, you can wear your support for youth mentoring! 🙌

Shop any of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley items on the Wear It Forward page (link in bio), and 10% of every purchase will come back to BBBSFV to help support mentoring programs and the young people we serve across the Fraser Valley.

Every purchase helps us create more opportunities for kids and youth to build confidence, develop meaningful relationships, and reach their full potential. 💙

AND - if you are a local business who would like to show your support, we would love to come help with streamers, balloons, and other decorations so that you can show your support! Contact us for more info!

🛍️ Shop. Wear it. Make an impact.

Thank you for helping us make a BIG difference for local youth!

Meet T and B! This match was worth the wait.
B wanted a Big Brother so badly, when T decided to volunteer his time one hour a week, it changed both of their lives.

B and T played games and were able to confide in each other building a safe and healthy relationship together.

Now that T is moving on to University, we hope to find another Big Brother that can make more impactful memories this 2026/2027 school year.
