A DIGITAL ERA BEGINS IN SEROWE
On 29 July 2026, Serowe witnessed the launch of the Serowe Digital Hub, a partnership between SOS Children’s Villages Botswana, Orange Foundation, and Serowe Brigades Centre. The event was graced by distinguished guests including the fourth President of Botswana and Bamangwato paramount chief, Lt. Gen. Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, alongside Dikgosi, community leaders, and partner representatives.
Speaking at the launch, SOS Botswana’s Acting Head of Programmes, Ms. Bongani Selape, emphasized that the hub reflects a shared commitment to empowering young people and strengthening communities through technology. She noted that the initiative supports Botswana’s national digital transformation agenda — Vision 2036 and SmartBots which aims to equip children and youth with the skills needed to thrive in a digital world.
For her part, Serowe Brigades Centre Principal, Ms. Gladys Ratshee, encouraged community members to embrace the new facility and take good care of it so that generations to come can continue benefiting from it.
Orange Botswana’s Director of People & Social Impact, Ms. Modiri Nlanda, described the hub as more than a computer lab: “It is a place where ideas can grow, businesses can be developed, and dreams can begin.” She highlighted that young people would gain practical digital skills such as creating CVs, applying for jobs online, and collaborating with peers — ensuring the hub becomes a catalyst for education, innovation, and opportunity in Serowe.
