The Selebi Phikwe Town Council Fire and Emergency Services Department continues to empower the community with essential safety and emergency response knowledge.

Today's session focused on First Aid Training, equipping participants with life saving skills to respond effectively during emergencies before professional medical assistance arrives.

In addition to First Aid Training, the department also offers Fire Marshal and Fire Safety Training programmes aimed at enhancing fire prevention awareness, emergency preparedness, and workplace safety across the community.

Selebi Phikwe Town Council Commemorates World Breastfeeding Week

Selebi Phikwe Town Council has joined the nation in commemorating World Breastfeeding Week through educational sessions held at the Botshabelo and Sesame clusters under the theme, "Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works."

The sessions aimed to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and its lifelong benefits for both infants and mothers.

Health professionals encouraged mothers to exclusively breastfeed their babies, emphasizing that breast milk provides vital, tailored nutrition and contains live antibodies that help protect infants against infections and reduce the risk of long-term chronic illnesses.

Mothers also learned that breastfeeding supports faster postpartum recovery, lowers the risk of certain cancers, reduces household expenses by eliminating the need for formula, and strengthens the emotional bond between mother and child, contributing to healthier families and communities.

Through this commemoration, Selebi Phikwe Town Council continues to promote healthy infant feeding practices and empower families with knowledge that gives every child a sustainable start in life.
