The future of African connectivity is taking shape in Botswana as the country hosts the 10th edition of AviaDev Africa 2026, Africaโs premier aviation route conference. Bringing together more than 560 delegates and representatives from over 110 airlines, airports, tourism authorities, and Government institutions, the event is driving conversations that strengthen trade, tourism, investment, and regional integration across the continent.
As a strategic partner, Business Botswana is proud to support this landmark event, recognising aviation as a critical enabler of economic growth, connectivity, and investment. AviaDev Africa presents an opportunity to forge partnerships, unlock new routes, and position Botswana as a gateway for business and travel in Africa.
Through our Transport Sector, led by Sector Chairperson Mr. Mathew Wiggett, Business Botswana is actively engaging stakeholders at the conference to advance a more enabling aviation environment. We are leveraging this platform to address aviation bottlenecks and regulatory challenges, improve air connectivity and create conditions that enhance business growth, competitiveness and regional integration.
Business Botswana remains committed to fostering meaningful engagements and championing reforms that will strengthen Botswanaโs position as a leading regional aviation and business hub.
The conference was officiated by His Honour the Vice President and Minister of Finance, Mr Ndaba N. Gaolathe, who participated in a fireside chat on African connectivity and integration. He emphasised the importance of strengthening relationships across the continent, stating, "people in Africa should know each other. It is only when we know each other well that we find reasons and opportunities to do business and trade with one another. That is how we connect ourselves by connecting Africa first."
His remarks reinforced the broader vision of AviaDev Africa 2026, building stronger continental linkages that drive economic development, trade, tourism and shared prosperity. Through deeper connectivity and collaboration, Africa can unlock greater opportunities for businesses, investors and communities across the continent.
