STAFF SENSITIZATION ON QMS
Kweneng District Council continues to roll out its Quality Management System (QMS) staff sensitization programme. The exercise is aimed at embedding a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement across all departments, with today's session focusing on the Department of Corporate Services.
As part of the QMS activities, staff were sensitised on Corruption and Crime Prevention by Ms. Onalenna Tshaila from Internal Audit, with emphasis on ethical conduct and professionalism in the workplace.
She reminded staff that their conduct shapes how the public perceives Kweneng District Council, as every employee is an ambassador of his or her workplace. Staff were encouraged to reflect on their actions, uphold transparency and respect and always consider whether their decisions are lawful, professional and appropriate.
She also highlighted factors that may lead to unethical conduct, including ignorance of the law, peer pressure, greed, survival, misplaced intentions and feelings of victimisation.
In conclusion, Ms. Tshaila emphasised that prevention is better than cure, noting that a strong code of ethics helps guide employees, prevent financial loss and protect the integrity of the organisation.
