Day 2 | IFRC Monitoring Visit – Khwai

Day 2 of the Botswana Red Cross Society, IFRC and North West District Council monitoring visit in Khwai continued with meaningful house-to-house engagements with families affected by the March 2026 floods.

The monitoring team visited beneficiary households to hear directly from community members, assess the impact of the assistance provided, gather feedback, and capture experiences and lessons learned.

These conversations provided valuable insights into how the interventions are supporting families to meet their immediate needs, recover from the impact of the floods, and strengthen their resilience.

By listening to communities and learning from their experiences, the Botswana Red Cross Society and its partners continue to strengthen accountability, responsiveness and community-centred humanitarian action.

CYCLING FOR CHARITY REACHES MAUN, BRINGING HOPE TO BANA BA LETSATSI

The Albert Milton Foundation, in partnership with Botswana Medical Aid Society (BOMAID) and other partners, today brought its Cycling for Charity Challenge to Maun, where cyclists visited Bana ba Letsatsi to give back to the community.

Led by the BOMAID Chief Executive Officer, Moraki Mokgosana this year’s charity ride themed AM640+ saw cyclists make their way to Maun, driven by a shared commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children whilst celebrating the legacy of the late Former Debswana Managing Director Mr Albert Milton.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the Cycling for Charity team donated three solar geysers to Bana ba Letsatsi, a care centre dedicated to improving children's lives through care, support and access to education.

Speaking during the donation handover ceremony, BOMAID pledged its continued commitment to Bana ba Letsatsi, promising to maintain a visible presence and extend further support to the centre.

This morning, cyclists participating in the AM640+ Cycling Charity Ride arrived in Maun, where they visited Bana ba Letsatsi to make a donation as part of their commitment to giving back to the community.

The charitable gesture reflects the spirit of compassion, generosity and community upliftment, demonstrating how sport can be used as a platform to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

COUNCIL LEADERSHIP ASSESSES READINESS FOR XHOROTSHAA RELOCATION

North West District Council leadership accompanied the new Council Secretary, Mr Mosimanegape Mogorosi, on a familiarisation tour of facilities at Xhorotshaa Settlement ahead of the envisaged relocation exercise before the end of the year.

The visit afforded him an opportunity to appreciate the progress made in preparing facilities and to gain firsthand insight into the settlement's readiness for the planned relocation.

The tour forms part of the District’s ongoing efforts to ensure a coordinated and well-informed approach to the relocation exercise.
