: At the 10th Trade Up North event in Francistown, BERA’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Pelaelo Kgomotso, highlighted one of our key priorities: “BERA is working on generation capacity expansion to have Independent Power Producers produce electricity and sell to the utility."

Yesterday, BERA participated at Trade Up North 10th Anniversary celebration where our Acting Chief Operations Officer (COO), Mr Pelaelo C. Kgomotso presented on the theme “The Next 10 years: Regulating Botswana’s Energy Transition to Support Mining & Industrialization Beyond Diamonds”. The event attracted players in the mining, manufacturing, and construction industries.

STATEMENT: The Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) informs the public that electricity tariffs will increase by a uniform 9% across all consumer categories for the 2026/27 financial year.

The revised tariffs will take effect from 00:01 hours on 1 August 2026.

Consumers and stakeholders are encouraged to take note of the tariff adjustment and its effective date.

𝐅𝐔𝐄𝐋 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐃𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐄𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝟕 𝐉𝐔𝐋𝐘 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) informs the public that the retail pump prices for petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin will be adjusted as follows:

* Retail pump price of unleaded petrol 95 will be decreased by 231 thebe per litre. The new pump price will be 1821 thebe per litre.

* Retail pump price of diesel 50ppm will be decreased by 412 thebe per litre. The new pump price will be 2093 thebe per litre.

* Retail pump price of illuminating paraffin will be decreased by 533 thebe per litre.The new pump price will be 1833 thebe per litre.

* The above changes take effect from 00:01hrs on Tuesday, 07th July 2026.
