The Deputy Ombudsman - Administrative Justice, Ms Dudu Leinaeng yesterday convened a Staff meeting at Francistown. The Ombudsman Staff Meeting successfully brought together staff to reflect on the office performance. Participants received updates on key organisational developments, engaged in discussions on departmental progress and challenges, and aligned on priorities for the coming year. The day also provided an opportunity for staff to share feedback and strengthen collaboration around the office.

The Deputy Ombudsman shared inspiring remarks that encouraged staff to remain committed to serving communities with compassion, integrity and excellence. She emphasized that currently there are a lot of changes both in the economy, the country and the manifesto and these changes affect officers and their mental well being. In closing Ms Leinaeng to stand firm despite the storming stage.

PRESS CONFERENCE

The Office of the Ombudsman will hold a Press Conference on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, from 09:00 to 11:00 at the Office of the Ombudsman Headquarters in Gaborone.

The Press Conference will be held under the theme: “Strengthening Administrative Justice and Human Rights: Mandate, Achievements, and Ongoing Challenges.” It will provide an opportunity to share key updates on the work of the Office and engage with the media on matters relating to its mandate.

As part of the Ombudsman office mandate, the Francistown Regional conducted two days Ombudsman clinic after the Kgotla meetings conducted by the Ombudsman Advocate Stephen Tiroyakgosi and the Deputy Ombudsman - Human Rights Ms Beulah Mguni in Masunga and Damochochenaa.

The aim of the Ombudsman Clinic was to engage with the public members who wanted one on one consultations after the Kgotla meetings addressed.

The public was further advised to contact share with their relatives and friend the mandates of the Ombudsman office

Official launch of the 2026 September Month of Prayer, for the Office of the Ombudsman.

Today the Office of the ombudsman kick-started the Month of Prayer; as we join the Nation as we pray against the social and health challenges that affect the lives of Batswana.

Ombudsman Advocate Stephen Tiroyakgosi and the members of staff had facilitators from the Botswana Police Service and were honored by the presence of Pastor Thapelo Boikanyo.

This year marks the 30th year of the Month of Prayer Campaign since the first launch in 1996. Thirty years of prayer, faith, commitment and standing together as a nation is a remarkable milestone. It is a testimony to the faithfulness of God and to the commitment of the Church and the people of Botswana to continually seek God concerning the challenges facing our nation.

For three decades, the Month of Prayer has provided an opportunity for individuals, families, churches, communities, organizations and institutions such as us, to come together in prayer and action for the wellbeing of our beloved nation.

As we launch this year's Month of Prayer, we continue to pray against the social and health challenges that affect the lives of Batswana, including:
● HIV and AIDS and new HIV infections;
● Gender-Based Violence;
● Alcohol and substance abuse;
● Dysfunctional families;
● Road traffic crashes and loss of lives;
● Non-communicable diseases and unhealthy lifestyles;
● And other social ills that threaten the wellbeing of our nation.

Our theme this year (LET THERE BE LIFE) speaks powerfully to the desire to want to live. The desire to want to live requires responsibility. It reminds us that this generation has a responsibility for the future it wants to see.
