The European Union is proud to support the government with the implementation and review of the Global Compact for Migration. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇼

Head of Cooperation, Catalin Gherman opened a multi-stakeholder national consultative workshop which initiated discussion on a practical roadmap for implementation of recommendations aligned with both the Global Compact and Botswana’s National Migration Policy. The workshop also provided space to integrate relevant regional perspectives, notably SADC progress report templates, aiming at harmonisation of different tools.

The European Union Ambassador to Botswana and SADC, Petra Pereyra had a good meeting with Honourable Minister of Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Kenewendo, where they briefly discussed the implementation of the EU funded ASPIRE (Accelerating Sustainable and Productive Investment in Renewable Energy and Efficiency) programme aimed at advancing Botswana's sustainable energy transition.

The European Union is looking forward to continuing to support institutional strengthening, policy and regulatory reforms,and increased investment in sustainable energy.

The European Union Ambassador to Botswana and SADC, Petra Pereyra was pleased to open the Workshop on Parliamentary Budgetary Engagement and Oversight of Public Enterprises together with Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly, Dithapelo Keorapetse and Dr Murphy of International IDEA.

Strong parliamentary oversight is at the heart of democratic governance, accountability and public trust. Effective scrutiny of budgets and public expenditure helps ensure that public resources are managed transparently, efficiently and in the best interest of citizens.

The European Union is proud to support this initiative as part of our longstanding partnership with Botswana. Our cooperation is relevant, responsive and demand-driven, reflecting our shared commitment to democratic governance, fiscal transparency, accountability and sustainable development.
