Over the Weekend (12 September 2026) Tlokweng District hosted Balekane ba Botswana, Miss Independence - Tlokweng. Thank you Balekane ba Botswana ( Those born in the Year 1966).

The Pagentry was a build Up for the 60th Celebration of Botswana Independence. This demonstrated and celebrated the beauty of Botswana.

The First Parade was of the leteisi outfit , followed by the Vintage parade ,and then Evening Wear. The Top five were serenaded with a question, โ€œRekisa Botswana mo metsotsong e mebediโ€.

The question determined the winners to be crowned Miss Balekane Ba Botswana Tlokweng 2026/2027.

TECHNICAL APPAREL PARTNERSHIP UNVEILING

Today BNOC, officially unveiled its technical partnership with global sports apparel leader- NIKE, this 14th of September 2026 at Fairgrounds Holdings.

Botswanaโ€™s athletes continue to raise the countryโ€™s flag high on some of the worldโ€™s biggest stages. From track to international competitions, team Botswana has demonstrated that talent, determination and excellence know no boundaries. As we continue to build on the various sporting achievements and successes, the Botswana National Olympic Committee-BNOC is taking yet another important milestone.

This indeed highlights that sport in Botswana is stepping into an exciting era. This partnership therefore, promises to bring new energy and world class support to team Botswana as our athletes continue to shine on the global stage. The partnership represents an exciting new chapter for Botswana sport and the continued growth of our athletes on the international stage.

BNOC President, Mr Tshepo Sitale reiterated that โ€œThis is one of the most significant technical partnerships in the history of Botswana. Adding that, Botswana is no longer going to major games merely to participate. We are going to contend and to win. Our athletes have come of age. So, our institutions and partnerships must now rise to meet their ambitionโ€. Sitale added that the Nike partnership gives practical meaning to that vision.
