NAHPA SIGNS PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT FOR DESERT BUSH WALK 2026
The National AIDS and Health Promotion Agency (NAHPA) today signed a Memorandum of Agreement with CSI Concepts Foundation, officially becoming a partner in the highly anticipated Desert Bush Walk 2026, scheduled to take place from 24–25 July 2026.
Over the years, the Desert Bush Walk has grown into one of Botswana’s largest and fastest-growing wellness, tourism, and hiking events. This year marks a significant milestone as the event celebrates 10 years of impact, promoting wellness, tourism, community development, and healthy lifestyles across the country.
The 2026 edition will be graced by His Excellency President Duma Boko and Her Majesty Queen 'Mmasenate Mohato Seeiso of the Kingdom of Lesotho, further elevating the profile and prestige of the occasion.
As part of ongoing efforts to address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Botswana, NAHPA has partnered with CSI Concepts Foundation to deliver health education and promote physical activity through walking during the 2026 Jwaneng Desert Bush Walk. Through this partnership, NAHPA reaffirms its commitment to health promotion and the prevention and control of NCDs.
To encourage proactive health-seeking behaviour ahead of the main event, comprehensive health screening services will be conducted in Jwaneng and surrounding areas in the days leading up to the walk.
These services will include:
• NCD SCREENINGS – Blood sugar and blood pressure testing.
• HIV TESTING SERVICES – Free and confidential HIV testing.
• HEALTH EDUCATION – Awareness and information on healthy lifestyles and wellness.
• CONDOM EDUCATION – Information on correct and consistent condom use.
NAHPA remains committed to promoting healthier communities and encouraging active lifestyles as part of the national response to non-communicable diseases and other public health challenges.
