The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA), in partnership with Absa Bank Botswana is today, 11 June 2026, hosting an Export Readiness Workshop at Woodlane Hotel, bringing together 30 SMMEs from across Botswana for a high-impact engagement focused on export development and business growth.
The workshop forms part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between LEA and ABSA Bank Botswana earlier this year. The partnership seeks to strengthen support for SMMEs by providing access to business development interventions, market opportunities, financial solutions, and growth-enabling platforms that contribute to enterprise sustainability and competitiveness.
The engagement is designed to equip participating businesses with the knowledge, skills, and practical insights required to access and compete in regional and international markets. Through this initiative, LEA and ABSA continue to demonstrate a results-oriented approach to collaboration, translating strategic partnerships into tangible interventions that directly benefit Botswana's entrepreneurs.
The workshop features a high-level panel discussion comprising representatives from the Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship, LEA, CEDA, BOBS, and a logistics industry expert, who will share insights on export requirements, standards, financing opportunities, market access, and logistics considerations for businesses seeking to expand beyond Botswana's borders.
In addition, participants will have an opportunity to engage directly with representatives from LEA and ABSA through a networking and meet-and-greet session aimed at strengthening relationships and facilitating access to support services.
This initiative underscores the commitment of both LEA and ABSA Bank Botswana to fostering entrepreneurship, enhancing SMME competitiveness, creating sustainable employment opportunities, and supporting Botswana's broader economic diversification and export-led growth agenda.
We look forward to the successful delivery of this workshop and the positive impact it will have on participating enterprises as they prepare to access new markets and contribute meaningfully to national economic development.
