President Duma Duma Gideon Boko received Dr Akinwumi Adesina, Chair of the Board of the Diamonds for Development Fund, for a courtesy call centred on driving Botswana’s development agenda through strategic investment and structural economic reform.

The Diamonds for Development Fund is a strategic economic initiative established by the De Beers Group in consultation with the Government to accelerate the country’s long-term economic diversification and the development of a knowledge-based economy.

Last week, MYGA, PYEC, and UNICEF convened a Mahalapye District Generation Unlimited Fair targetted at Youth from the locality. This engagement was borne from the realisation that 35% of Botswana's population are Youth.

Minister of Youth and Gender Affairs and Generation Unlimited Brand Ambassador Hon. Lesego Chombo broke the mould of traditional speeches and gave a heartfelt narration of her life journey thus far. Her address touched on resilience, patience, and hard work as being the pillars that success is built on.

Botswana’s six decades of nationhood came vividly to life as the Department of Information Services launched the “Botswana @ 60: A Journey Through the Lens” photography exhibition and accompanying coffee table book at the National Museum and Monuments, under the theme “Reflections of Pride, People and Progress.”

Officially launching the exhibition, Assistant Minister - Ministry for State President Defense and Security Maipelo Mophuting-Dikoloti reflected on photography’s power to preserve memories, connect generations and bring familiar faces including those who have passed on back to life.

Sandfire Resources has hosted representatives from China Copper Corporation, one of its major copper concentrate customers and a leading global producer of alumina, primary aluminium and other industrial metals, at its Motheo Copper Operations in Botswana.

Vice President and Finance Minister Ndaba Gaolathe is in London leading Botswana’s investment drive during a series of high-level engagements scheduled for September 17–18.

Vice President Gaolathe addressed Chatham House earlier today under the theme, “Botswana’s Future: Economic Resilience Amid Global Uncertainty,” outlining the country’s economic outlook, response to global pressures and plans for building a resilient, sustainable economy.

On Friday, he will lead Botswana Day at the London Stock Exchange, including the opening of trading and meetings with investors, financial institutions and other key stakeholders.
