COMPANY PROFILE

Ameria Personal Care

Ameria Personal Care is a company that manufactures personal care products in Gaborone, Botswana. They specialise in products such as perfume, fine fragrances, skin, body and hair care products. They produce under the brand names NORMALLY, a skin care brand and IKAY, a perfume brand, which originates from India. The company is owned and managed by Anas Patel and Sahal Patel whose vision is to create employment in Botswana and to introduce brands in Botswana that would contribute immensely to the country’s cosmetics industry. Their journey in the personal care industry began in India, where Sahal Patel co-founded and led the development of NORMALLY. The brand is scientifically formulated and focused on efficacy and skin health and are dermatologically tested for the modern consumers.

IKAY ESSENCE is a luxury perfume brand that is inspired by global perfume tradition and have French sophistication, Middle Eastern depth, South Asian warmth, and modern aromatic blends. The brand was born through Anas Patel's passion for fragrances. The brand carved its space in the Indian fragrance industry, offering long-lasting, high-quality perfumes that resonated with diverse consumer preferences. As both brands grew, they noticed a unique and unexpected demand emerging beyond India and possibly into the African market. A fascinating trend started to unfold, hence the need to establish in Botswana. There has been traction in the market as agents, wholesalers, and independent buyers from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and West African countries began purchasing their products in bulk and reselling them in their local markets.

The decision to establish manufacturing in Botswana instead of simply increasing exports from India was initiated by a bigger vision to build a personal care manufacturing hub in Africa and Botswana stood out as the ideal location for this expansion because it is strategically located, provides seamless access to Southern African markets, and its trade agreements also facilitate exports to West Africa and beyond. The country also has a stable economy with strong governance and business-friendly policies, making it an ideal place for setting up a long-term operation. Setting up in Botswana also enables employment creation, upskilling local talent and development of local industries.
