OFFICIAL STATEMENT BY THE PAN AFRICANIST YOUTH PATRIOTIC LEAGUE

The Patriotic Youth League notes the recent appearance of the Director General of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security Services before the Public Accounts Committee with deep concern.

We have listened to the revelations made and the posture displayed. It is clear that the conduct exhibited falls far short of the standards of transparency, accountability, and good governance that Batswana deserve from public office holders.

Key concerns we raise:
1. Disregard for accountability: Public institutions must answer to the people and their representatives. Defiance or contempt before Parliament erodes trust in government.
2. Allegations of nepotism: The reported promotion of family members within the Directorate, skipping multiple salary scales, cannot be justified in a government elected on a mandate for change and integrity.
3. Mandate for positive change: We, the youth, cast our vote for a government that puts the nation first. We will not entertain reckless, self serving conduct by any government official, regardless of office or rank.

Our position
The Patriotic Youth League fully supports decisive action to uphold the principles that brought this government into office. For the credibility of our intelligence services and for public confidence to be restored, leadership that fails to meet the ethical and constitutional standards must be held to account.

We therefore support the dismissal of the Director General of Intelligence and Security Services. This is not about individuals, it is about protecting institutions, defending good governance, and ensuring that public resources and power serve the people of Botswana.

We call on government to immediately appoint leadership of integrity, who will reform the Directorate of Intelligence Services.

It's been a month since Umbrella for Democratic Change emerged victorious in the 2024 National general elections.

The joy and high hopes of a New Botswana were reignited but now things are moving at tortoise's pace. We don't have clue what your intentions are.

Come on guys, we can't be running our New government with result disoriented Permanent secretaries and parastatal Directors.

What is the use of peaceful demonstrations known as megwanto if there's is no action taken.

Corruption is the paramount enemy of progress, CEDA, BURS AND DCEC are the three most corrupt mother parastatals.

Don't play away with trust President Duma Gideon Boko

BDP government will mislead you, whatever advise they gave you about the current new UDC led government will make you fail dismally. Be careful Mr. President, that's what we voted out for. We don't play with our lives.

This is a new Botswana. It's up to you whether you become a right hand man or left hand man. The decision about CEDA will test your loyalty towards Batswana.
