The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Hon. Keoagile Atamelang and the Acting High Commissioner of South Africa to Botswana, Her Excellency Feziwe Madikizela at the State Banquet hosted by President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko, President of the Republic of Botswana, in honour of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, this evening in Gaborone.

The State Banquet forms part of the two-day State visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in infrastructure, logistics, trade and investment between Botswana and Oman.

Chargé d'affaires, Ms Feziwe Madikizela today had a courtesy call meeting with the SongaTech delegation from South Africa; the Group CEO: Mr. Vincent Masia, Dr Sindiswa Mzamo and Mr. Stofolo Mokubung.

SongaTech is a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality mining consumables, including cast and forged steel grinding balls, mineral separation spirals, and heavy-duty wire mesh.

South Africa launches Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)

President Cyril Ramaphosa officially launched South Africa's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) at OR Tambo International Airport on 12 August 2026.

The ETA forms part of South Africa's efforts to modernise it's immigration system, making travel to South Africa easier, faster and more secure, while strengthening border management.

The launch marks an important milestone in South Africa's digital transformation of its visa and immigration processes.

Honourable Thandi Moraka, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, led a South African delegation to the unveiling of the Tombstone Ceremony of the 45 Batswana Nationals who departed to eternal rest during the Mmamatlakala Bus Tragedy accident in 2024, that occured in South Africa. Deputy Minister Moraka was accompanied by Honourable, Mr Kgabo Elias Mahoai, MEC for Treasury of the Limpopo Province, supported by the South African High Commission in Botswana. This noble event, themed National Healing Remembrance and Closure was hosted by Her Excellency, Mrs Kaone Tumalano Boko, First Lady of the Republic of Botswana.
