SECOND ROUND NATIONWIDE ORAL POLIO VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

The Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs (MLGTA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) wishes to inform members of the public that the second round of the National Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign using Novel Oral Polio Vaccine Type 2 (nOPV2 will be conducted nationwide from 8th to 11th June 2026.

The campaign aims to protect all children under five years (0 โ€“ 59 months) against poliomyelitis (polio), a highly infectious disease that can cause permanent paralysis and disability. Furthermore, it seeks to strengthen population immunity and prevent the potential spread of the virus particularly among vulnerable children.

The campaign will be delivered by trained vaccination teams identifiable by name tags through house-to-house visits and other selected vaccination sites such as health facilities and at locations where children commonly gather, such as daycare centres, to ensure that every eligible child is reached.

The Ministry encourages parents and caregivers to present the following children for vaccination:
โ€ข All children who received the oral polio vaccine during the first round of the campaign.
โ€ข All children under five years (0โ€“59 months ) who missed vaccination during the first round.

For more information, please contact the Ministryโ€™s Communication Office at 3658423/3658467, or via email to [email protected].
