During the induction, the team was orientated on the operation of Botswanaโs health system, the patient referral pathway and the Ministry of Healthโs values, including serving with integrity, professionalism and compassion.
The Botswana Health Professions Council also welcomed the team virtually, administered the professional oath and shared its mandate of regulating health professionals, promoting ethical practice and safeguarding the quality and safety of healthcare services.
Key hospital stakeholders, including the Botswana Police Service, Botswana Housing Corporation and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, were also in attendance. They sensitised the team on services and requirements that may affect their stay in Botswana, with the aim of ensuring that they settle comfortably and access the necessary support.
The Botswana Police Service provided guidance on common crime-prevention measures and assured the team of continued protection and security throughout their stay in the country.
This highly skilled and dedicated team is expected to support local healthcare professionals, strengthen specialised services and contribute significantly towards improving patient care in the Hospital.
We warmly welcome the 18th Chinese Medical Team and look forward to a productive partnership in service to our patients.
