Mashatu Game Reserve is situated at the confluence of the great Limpopo and Shashe Rivers in the remote eastern corner of Botswana. This area is known historically as the Tuli Enclave and it is here where the three countries; Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe meet.

From clear blue skies at the Matebole Hide to the last light at the LalaLimpopo Sleep-Out Hide, Mashatu always has something waiting at the water's edge.

An elephant enjoying a midday drink, red-billed queleas in a flurry of color, and another giant arriving just after sunset, a reminder that no two photographic moments are ever the same.

If you've spent enough time tracking leopards, you'll know "leopard logs" are a real thing, that moment when every oddly shaped branch, termite mound, or rock suddenly becomes a leopard in your mind.

One of Mashatu's rarest sightings came courtesy of Deborah while out on the PhotoMashatu vehicle. Guided by Cedric and Kabelo, the trio ventured southwest into the Motloutse area, where they were rewarded with an unforgettable brown hyena encounter.

With no other vehicles at the sighting, they had the privilege of spending quality time photographing one of the reserve's most elusive residents.

Research has shown that elephants often travel and forage under the cover of darkness, avoiding both heat and human activity.

At the Lala Limpopo Sleep-Out Hide, guests are given a rare glimpse into this secret world as elephants quietly pass by under the cover of night.

As the sun sets over Hamerkop Crossing, two unfamiliar male lions move silently through Mashatu. Their presence raises more questions than answers. Are they passing through, or are they here to challenge the established order?
