The Divisional Forest Office, Wangdue is conducting a General Staff and AWBP meeting for FY 2026-2027. The general staff meeting, conducted yesterday, brought together all the staff of the division in a single platform to discuss and share opportunities and challenges while delivering the public services. It is also conducted in recognizing the importance of all staff to come together given that they work in different field offices spread within Punakha and Wangduephodrang Dzongkhags. Presentations were made on publishing WFD Annual Report, 2025-2026, Approved FY for 2026-2027 and section-wise presentations on upcoming activities.
Today, the meeting is continued to formulate Divisional Workplan for the FY 2026-2027 aligned with the workplan of the Department and Ministry.

Celebrating World Ranger Day 2026

The Wangdue Divisional Forest Office proudly commemorated World Ranger Day 2026 under the global theme, "Guardians of a Changing Planet."

The celebration began with the lighting of butter lamps and the recitation of His Majesty's Zhabten, which was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.

On this meaningful day, we paid tribute to our dedicated rangers—the steadfast guardians of Bhutan's forests, wildlife, and natural heritage. Their courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to conservation play a vital role in protecting our country's rich biodiversity for present and future generations. Working tirelessly in the frontlines, they exemplify dedication, professionalism, and selfless service.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to everyone whose support and participation made the celebration truly memorable.

To every ranger, thank you for your service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to safeguarding Bhutan's natural treasures.

This is to be noted that the Cordyceps export shall now be facilitated by Department of Forests and Park Services through the nearest forest office, which was earlier done by BFDA.

𝗔 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗯 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱

A few weeks after a Himalayan Black Bear rescued as cub and raised in Divisional Forest Office, Wangdue was relocated to Thimphu, coincidentally another cub was rescued and brought to the wildlife rehabilitation and rescue enclosure in the Division.

The cub, suspected to have lost its mother was found to be bullied by the stray dogs in Hali village under Nahi gewog, Wangdue phodrang. The cub possibly 2-3 months old was found healthy physically, although it must have been enduring an emotional distress of losing the care and protection of its mother.

The cub, once at the enclosure fed well on pasteurized milk. It is expected to survive and grow just like an adult one recently moved to Thimphu.

The division promptly responds to such incidents of wildlife under distress and injury due to human-wildlife negative interactions and provides a second chance for its survival in the enclosure.
