Joao Aviao worked on the WASDEAF project to go to the UN.
Joao Aviao is in New York, USA, working with the possibility that this development of the project of the WASDEAF (World Aviation System of the Deaf) be recognized and adopted by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), a specialized UN (United Nations) agency. The ICAO headquarters is in the city of Montreal, Canada.
The project of the world aviation system of the deaf, a forerunner of aviation rights where the focus is on HUMAN RIGHTS, ACCESSIBILITY and FLIGHT SAFETY, especially with a view to strengthening the fight of deaf persons for equal rights, with a focus on accessibility and respect for deaf persons within the aviation professional. This project already has high levels of approval by the international community of deaf people in the fight against the barriers imposed on the deaf, not only in our country, but also the international support for the accessibility of hearing impaired people to the area of aviation so that any deaf person is recognized as a potential candidate for the profession of aviator in all countries of the world, having permission and release after approval by the regulatory bodies to practice the profession. In addition, in this project a part is presented on professional aircraft piloting, not only for deaf pilots, but also for the auditory health guarantee and right of the pilot listener (non-deaf) since he can also manifest the hearing loss caused by radio, known as "Unilateral and Bilateral Hearing Loss". We are concerned about communication in the area of aviation via radio, as it is a risk to hearing health, injuring several aviators. In our work, we defend the DataLink system that offers technology that enables all hearing and deaf pilots to use data or text communication with the air traffic controller. This system is more secure, with good quality and processes information in a short time and with less workload, surpassing the radio communication.
We respect the UN Norms and the Constitutions in all the countries of the world. If we all have equal human rights, then the deaf or listener has the right to fly by use of DataLink, since such a system corrects hearing disability in such an efficient and inclusive way as, similarly, glasses correct visual disability.
The WASDEAF is in international focus on the final course for ICAO, in which it provides a great opportunity for the project to reach the whole world. ICAO is a large and powerful organization that can give a better solution to our new world aviation system of the deaf.
