São Paulo, April 27, 2026: The Trade & Investment Counsellor Dr. Muhammad Babar Chohan paid a visit to the FIT PUERI EXPO 2026 in São Paulo to assess opportunities in the children’s products and apparel sector. The visit allowed direct interaction with exhibitors and buyers, with a particular focus on identifying potential demand for Pakistani textiles and related value-added products. Initial observations indicate a competitive but structured market, with strong emphasis on product quality, safety standards, and branding. The products showcased in the Show reflect niche market potential for Pakistani exporters, especially in children’s garments and soft textile products.

March 24, 2026: Noted Brazilian author, photographer and writer Mr. Christian Piason Freitas visited the Commercial Section, Embassy of Pakistan, São Paulo and presented his book to Trade & Investment Counselor Dr. Muhammad Babar Chohan.

On January 23, 2026, the Trade Mission São Paulo arranged another technical meeting for SIFC with leading Brazilian research and technology institutions in the livestock and meat sector, with the participation of AS SIFC Sajid Qazi, Dr. Azam, Mr. Tariq Naeem Athar, Dr. Muhammad Babar Chohan, and representatives from Embrapa (Mr. Paulo Galerani and Dr. César Miranda), ABCZ (Mrs. Raquel Borges), ST Genetics (Mr. Raul Lara Rezende), the Brazilian Institute of Zootechnology (Mr. Rodrigo Giglioti), as well as Brazilian academic researcher Mrs. Claudia Paz. The Pakistani side also included Dr. Saif representing academia, Dr. Haider Khan, and officials from the Animal Husbandry Commission under the Ministry of National Food Security and Research.

Discussions focused on potential avenues for cooperation in research, technology, and production processes, with particular emphasis on understanding Brazil’s cattle production and genetics model. The meeting helped define a more concrete pathway for adapting Brazilian scientific expertise, institutional frameworks, and technological practices to support the development of Pakistan’s cattle industry and its long-term meat export ambitions.

On January 20, 2026, SIFC held another meeting with representatives of leading Brazilian meat and genetics organizations to discuss technical cooperation for the development of Pakistan’s meat processing and export sector. Participants included AS SIFC Sajid Qazi; Dir. (Europe & America) Lt. Col. Jahanzeb; Dir. (Agri.) Lt. Col. Ayaz; Brig. Tariq Naeem Athar; Trade & Investment Counselor Dr. Muhammad Babar Chohan; Mr. Zahir Sakhi; and Brazilian private-sector representatives Mr. Gustavo Monaco (Minerva Foods), Mrs. Rachel Borges (ABCZ), Mr. Rafael Ribeiro and Mr. Raul Carneiro (ST Genetics), and Mr. Alexandre Cunha (AgroExport). The meeting focused on Pakistan’s transition from a dairy-oriented system to a structured meat-export industry, leveraging Brazilian expertise in tropical-climate cattle, grass-fed production, genetics, and private-sector-led agribusiness models.

Brazilian participants outlined their production systems, research support from institutions such as ABCZ and Embrapa, and the central role of the private sector, and the Agro Betel cattle exports were cited as a recent example of successful cooperation. Discussions emphasized reciprocal technical visits, including Pakistani delegations to Brazilian abattoirs, research, and breeding centers, as well as potential visits by Brazilian executives to Pakistan to assess local needs. It was agreed that the next steps would include forming joint public–private teams, defining priority areas for technical exchange and knowledge transfer, and advancing dialogue toward concrete cooperation initiatives, joint ventures, and investment opportunities aligned with Pakistan’s local conditions and development objectives.

On January 19, 2026, following PM’s directions, the SIFC held a coordination meeting with the Trade Mission in São Paulo to discuss cooperation with Brazil in meat processing, livestock development, and exports. Participants included Additional Secretary SIFC Sajid Qazi; JS (Mil.) Col. Asim; JS (Civ.) Umer Jahangir; Dir. (Europe & America) Lt. Col. Jahanzeb; Dir. (Agri.) Lt. Col. Ayaz; Brig. Adil; Ambassador Murad Janjua; Defense Attaché Brig. Tariq Naeem Athar; DHM Mr. Irfan Ullah Khan; and Trade & Investment Counselor Dr. Muhammad Babar Chohan. The discussion focused on Pakistan’s transition from a dairy-oriented model to a structured meat-export industry, learning from Brazilian technical expertise, regulatory practices, and private-sector-led agribusiness models, while also preparing Pakistani firms to operate under Brazilian standards.

The meeting noted that cooperation is underway, including laboratory alignment with Brazilian models, veterinary and technical exchanges, and work on sanitary protocols for cattle trade. The Brazil–Pakistan Technical Cooperation Agreement was highlighted as a key framework for advancing breed improvement and genetic programs. The historical cooperation, dating back to cattle imports in the 1950s from Pakistan to Brazil, was combined with the Brazilian expertise in tropical-climate breeds. The participants from Brazilian companies’ expressed interest in joint ventures, investment, and mutually beneficial technical training. The meeting concluded with agreement to continue follow-up through further technical and policy meetings, engagement with Brazilian stakeholders, and exploration of joint ventures and training programs for practical implementation in the coming months.
