Today, 20 November 2023, marks the day that Brazil commemorates its annual celebration of the Black Consciousness Day ' Dia da Consciência Negra'. The Embassy of Zimbabwe joins Brazil in celebrating those who fought for equality and freedom for the Afro-Brazilian community, as well as honouring Zumbi dos Palmares, a Brazilian Quilombola leader who was one of the pioneers of resistance to slavery of Africans by the Portuguese in colonial Brazil.
