The Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA) is the premier academic centre to the provision of research and training on issues and concerns related to the advancement of Negara Brunei Darussalam, with an emphasis on leadership and innovation. Our business, technological and social environment are faced with new and continuous challenges and there is a need for individuals and o

rganisations to reassess the status quo and to innovate – to look for new ways of thinking and behaviour for the advancement of society as a whole. To inspire change, leaders at all levels and in all fields must be continuously trained to their fullest potential so that they can enhance productivity and performance in an array of public and private organisations. At the same time, relevant and timely research needs to be conducted, to address and to provide empirical solutions to emerging issues and challenges related to change leadership and innovation. The Institute therefore strives towards solving business, technological and social problems in these challenges through training, dialogue, collaboration, research and development. The Institute encourages a multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral approach whereby beneficial partnerships and collaboration will be sought and established at both local and international levels.

A total of 20 participants comprising officers from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED), Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), Religious Enforcement Division, and the Internal Security Department (ISD) completed the 5th/2025 RBPF Middle Management Executive Development Programme and were celebrated in a closing ceremony at Banquet Hall, Police Officers' Mess, Police Headquarters, Gadong.

Commissioner of Police at the RBPF Dato Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman bin Alidin attended as guest of hour alongside Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Vice -Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle and UBD Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Haji Noor Azam bin Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Haji Othman.

The 12-week programme was a collaboration between the RBPF and the Institute of Leadership, Innovation and Advancement, UBD. The participants were exposed to various modules covering leadership, management, and contemporary challenges faced by law enforcement agencies.
