On May 30, to mark its tenth anniversary, a celebratory event was held by Chinese Enterprises Association in Brunei(CEAB), which was attended by H.E.Chen Shaochun, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, YB Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, together with over 200 representatives from Brunei's legislative Council, government agencies, business communities and other sectors.
In his address, Ambassador Chen looked back on the respective remarkable achievements made by China and Brunei over the past decade, as well as the booming development of bilateral relations—from a strategic cooperative relationship to a strategic cooperative partnership, and on to the joint building of China-Brunei community with a shared future. He fully acknowledged the significant contributions made by the CEAB and its members over the past decade to advancing bilateral relations.
Noting that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei,
Ambassador Chen hoped that CEAB and Chinese enterprises would take a long-term view and keep the bigger picture in mind, actively integrating themselves into the broader development landscape of both countries; that they would take the initiative, foster closer ties and actively fulfil their social responsibilities; and that they would operate in compliance with regulations, consolidate their foundations, create a more favourable environment for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and inject more momentum into the building of China-Brunei community with a shared future.
Dato Dr. Amin stated that over the past decade, Chinese enterprises in Brunei had continued to grow and expand, becoming a vital pillar of Brunei's economic and social development, which fully reflected the deep friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between Brunei and China. He expressed the hope that CEAB would continue to serve as a bridge for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, providing further impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
Established in 2016, CEAB has increasingly become a bridge connecting Chinese enterprises with the governments of both countries, facilitating access to market resources and fostering collaborative development, thereby making a significant contribution to the advancing of China-Brunei relations.
