HM King receives written message from HE Cypriot President

Manama, Jun. 15 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received a written message from His Excellency Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, regarding the deep-rooted ties between the two countries.

The message was received by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his meeting with Dr. Andreas Eliades, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Bahrain.

The meeting reviewed the bilateral ties between Bahrain and Cyprus and means to further strengthen cooperation, in addition to several issues of mutual interest at the regional and international levels.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister meets the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kingdom of Bahrain

Manama, Jun. 1 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with His Excellency Dr Andreas Eliades, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kingdom of Bahrain, at Riffa Palace.

His Royal Highness welcomed the ongoing progress and growth of relations between Bahrain and Cyprus across several fields of mutual interest.

His Royal Highness underscored the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic and trade sectors, to promote opportunities that support shared aspirations.

During the meeting, issues of common interest and the latest regional and international developments were discussed.

For his part, the Ambassador of Cyprus expressed his appreciation to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for the meeting, and for His Royal Highness’s commitment to enhancing joint coordination between the two countries.

His Excellency Dr Eliades also wished the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity.

His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court, His Excellency Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and several senior officials, also attended the meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister receives Cypriot Ambassador

Manama, May 21 (BNA): Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, received Dr. Andreas Eliades, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Cyprus continue to develop across various domains.

He highlighted the notable progress in diplomatic engagement between the two countries, reflecting their deep longstanding friendship. He also commended the level of coordination and mutual support in international forums, reiterating Bahrain’s support for all efforts aimed at reinforcing security, stability, and peace in the region.

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah wished the ambassador success in carrying out his diplomatic duties in a manner that contributes to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The meeting reviewed the latest regional and international developments and underscored several issues of mutual interest.

Discussions also covered means to enhance bilateral cooperation and advance it to more comprehensive levels, particularly in the economic, development, and investment sectors, while expanding coordination in support of shared interests and the prosperity of both friendly countries.

For his part, the ambassador expressed appreciation to the Deputy Prime Minister and affirmed keenness to continue working towards achieving the shared visions and aspirations of both countries.

Electricity Minister receives Cypriot Ambassador

Manama, May 19 (BNA): Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, received Dr. Andreas Eliades, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting discussed means to enhance joint cooperation in various domains, particularly in electricity and water.

The minister emphasised the deep bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Cyprus, and their continuous development. He noted the mutual commitment to expanding the partnership to serve the interests of both countries.

For his part, the ambassador affirmed his country's keenness to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.

Municipalities Minister receives Cyprus Ambassador

Manama, May 20 (BNA): Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, received Dr. Andreas Eliades, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Cyprus, particularly cooperation in municipalities and agriculture, and means to further enhance coordination in support of shared interests.

Foreign Minister meets EU Ambassadors to Bahrain

Manama, May 18 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a meeting with ambassadors of European Union member states accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was hosted by Dr. Andreas Eliades, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, marking the conclusion of Cyprus’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The minister commended Cyprus’s efforts during its presidency and reaffirmed the strength of Bahrain’s ties with EU member states, highlighting Bahrain’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation and partnership with the European Union, including within the UN Security Council.

Dr. Al Zayani also welcomed European countries’ condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, GCC countries, and Jordan. He commended their firm stance, calling on Iran to cease its actions and end the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and stressing the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation in accordance with international law.

He further emphasised dialogue and diplomacy as essential tools to resolve regional crises and urged the international community to intensify efforts to end conflicts in the Middle East to preserve regional and international security and stability.

For their part, the ambassadors reaffirmed their solidarity with Bahrain and the GCC, condemned Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and stressed its potential impact on global energy supplies, food security, and international trade.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations, and Shaikha Al Anood bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Acting Chief of the European Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Transportation Minister attends local EU Presidency meeting in Bahrain

Manama, May 14 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, attended the local European Union Presidency meeting hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in the Kingdom of Bahrain as part of Cyprus’ presidency of the Council of the EU. The meeting was held at the InterContinental Hotel in Manama.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed delivered the keynote address, affirming that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, continues to advance its development programmes and strengthen its economic and strategic partnerships.

The Transportation Minister said the Kingdom remains committed to implementing ambitious plans to develop infrastructure, enhance competitiveness and attract high-quality investments, reinforcing international confidence in the Kingdom’s economic environment.

He emphasised that Bahrain continues to implement comprehensive development plans that strengthen its position as a regional hub for transportation, telecommunications, logistics and the digital economy. He highlighted the Kingdom’s success in attracting international companies to establish regional operations at Bahrain International Airport, alongside continued port development and expanded logistics capabilities to enhance Bahrain’s role as a regional trade and transport hub.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed also reviewed efforts to develop the land transport sector through public transport projects, road network expansion and the adoption of clean energy technologies and smart solutions to support a sustainable and efficient transport system.

He also highlighted support for regional connectivity projects, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council railway project, to strengthen economic integration and regional trade and transport.

The Transportation Minister added that Bahrain continues to invest in digital infrastructure and advanced telecommunications networks to support the digital economy, innovation and entrepreneurship, while strengthening its position as a regional hub for digital connectivity and international communications through support for modern technologies, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

On his part, Andreas Iliades, Ambassador of Cyprus to Bahrain, commended the longstanding relations between Bahrain and EU countries and emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation in transportation, telecommunications, logistics, the digital economy and sustainability, highlighting Bahrain’s advanced investment environment and strategic location.

The meeting also included discussions between the Transportation Minister and resident and non-resident EU ambassadors on Bahrain’s development projects in the maritime, aviation, land transport and telecommunications sectors, as well as opportunities for cooperation and exchange of expertise in maritime security, infrastructure, innovation, sustainability and digital transformation.
