CMF is a 47-nation partnership with headquarters in Bahrain, focused on counter-terrorism, counter-piracy, maritime security & regional cooperation.

■ CMF comprises five task forces: CTF 150 (maritime security), CTF 151 (counter-piracy), CTF 152 (Arabian Gulf cooperation), CTF 153 (Red Sea Maritime Security) and CTF 154 (Maritime Security Enhancement Training).

🚨 A successful international response helped prevent a piracy incident escalating in the Gulf of Aden.

After the MV GLAMOR reported a suspicious skiff approaching, CTF 151 coordinated with coalition forces including European Union Naval Force - Operation Atalanta and regional partners to respond quickly. The crew implemented Best Management Practices, denying the attackers control of the vessel.

With maritime patrol aircraft overhead and additional forces responding, the pirates withdrew. All crew were reported safe, and the vessel resumed its voyage.

Strong partnerships, rapid information sharing, and prepared crews remain key to safeguarding maritime commerce.

🌍⚓ Strengthening maritime partnerships through education and expertise.

CTF 154 recently engaged with the World Maritime University (WMU) for the first time, exploring opportunities to support Combined Maritime Forces training and capacity development. Discussions focused on maritime law, ocean governance, maritime enforcement, and emerging technologies.

The engagement expands CTF 154's growing network of specialist partners, helping to connect CMF nations with world leading knowledge and expertise in support of maritime security and stability across the region.

🤝 Strengthening cooperation across the Combined Maritime Forces Partnership

🌊⚓Personnel from Republic of Korea Navy led CTF 151 🇰🇷 and Indian Navy led CTF 154 🇮🇳 for a staff coordination session focused on sharing expertise, strengthening professional understanding, and identifying opportunities for greater collaboration.

The discussion highlighted the value of connecting operational experience with multinational training and capacity development, helping to enhance interoperability and support collective maritime security.

Through closer coordination and the exchange of lessons learned, CMF Task Forces continue to work together to promote security, stability, and cooperation across the maritime domain.

After a successful command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 151, the Royal Navy has formally handed over to the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN), marking the next chapter in the task force’s ongoing mission to deter piracy and enhance maritime security in the Gulf of Aden and surrounding waters.

Conducted at the British Embassy Manama, and overseen virtually by Admiral Renshaw USN, Commander CMF, the ceremony was attended by dignitaries including British Charge d’Affairs Mr Simon Martin, senior CMF officers, and command staffs.

During their tenure, the Royal Navy, supported by a diverse “rainbow staff” of personnel from eight partner nations and international partner organisations, demonstrated the strength of multinational cooperation in counter-piracy operations.

Together, the team coordinated 17 contributing units, conducted 69 ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) patrols, and responded to over two dozen piracy-related incidents. These achievements reflect the dedication and professionalism of sailors, aviators, coastguards, and maritime professionals from across the CMF partnership.

Ongoing training is essential to maintaining an effective and agile team. CTF 154 and Australia’s Border Command 🇦🇺 recently conducted staff enhancement training. All designed to

While in Djibouti, Deputy Commander CMF, Cdre Dan Thomas, visited our long-standing partners in JS TAKANAMI 🇯🇵

Meeting with the CO, Cdr Aoki, and crew onboard, he discussed TAKANAMI’s contribution in support of maritime security in the Gulf of Aden and wider region alongside CTF 151.

Reflecting on his days as a Royal Navy pilot, Cdre Dan was honoured to return to his roots, engaging with the aircrew and their helicopter 🚁

✅ Focused Operation Aegis Meridiana has concluded.

Over 11 days, Combined Task Force 151 have demonstrated the strength of multinational maritime cooperation across the region.

⚓️11 units participated
🌍 14 nations represented
🗺️ 7,210 NM patrolled
⏰ 831.5 hours on task
🚤 74 crafts questioned
📑29 training serials conducted

The operation also featured coordinated patrols and other joint activities, enhancing cooperation and strengthening shared maritime awareness and security.

Through sustained presence, information sharing, and close cooperation with regional and international partners, CTF 151 continues to support maritime security and contribute to a safe, secure, and stable maritime environment.

🌊⚓ As part of the CTF 151 Focused Operation Aegis Merdiana, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force JS TAKANAMI joined Djiboutian Coast Guard and Naval vessels for joint manoeuvres, communications drills and formation sailing near Djibouti.

🤝 The exercise highlights strong international cooperation and a shared commitment to maritime security across the region.

🌊 ⚓ Building maritime capability through professional development

The Indian Navy led Combined Task Force 154 hosted its 15th Staff Enhancement Training session, bringing together 40 participants from CMF Headquarters, Combined Task Forces, partner nations and partner organisations.

Delivered in partnership with United Nations Institute for Training and Research United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) , the session marked CMF's first dedicated Training of Trainers engagement, focusing on maritime capacity building across the Western Indian Ocean and Arabian Peninsula.

Sessions explored how coordinated, demand led and sustainable training can help partner nations build long term capability, while avoiding duplication of effort and ensuring activities are aligned to operational needs.

By sharing expertise, strengthening cooperation and exchanging best practice, CTF 154 continues to support safer and more secure maritime environments across the region. 🤝
