The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Brussels joined the nation in celebrating the joyous occasion of the 118th National Day of Bhutan. The celebrations commenced with the lighting of butter lamps, followed by the National Anthem and a lunch hosted by the Embassy for Bhutanese residents in Belgium and neighbouring countries, including Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Spain, and the Netherlands. The Embassy officials and members of the Bhutanese community also gathered to rewatch the live telecast of His Majesty The King’s National Day Address.

On the eve of the National Day, Kutshab Tshoki Choden hosted a reception for the officials of the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium, the European Union, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Honorary Consuls of Bhutan, Members of Bhutanese Friendship Associations, Bhutanese residents and friends of Bhutan in Europe. Ambassador Pierre Cartuyvels, Chief of Protocol of the Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of Belgium, and Ms. Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service, graced the reception as Guests of Honour.

In her address, Kutshab highlighted Bhutan’s remarkable development journey guided by our visionary Monarchs. She underscored the deepening partnership between Bhutan and Europe, noting the celebration of 40 years of Bhutan-European Union relations, along with Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands. She further announced the forthcoming EU-Bhutan Business Forum in January 2026, followed by the Invest Bhutan Forum in February 2026, aimed at advancing sustainable investment and cooperation, including in the Gelephu Mindfulness City.

The celebrations provided an occasion for the Bhutanese community to come together in unity to reaffirm our commitment to the service of the Tsa-Wa-Sum and to offer our humble prayers for the continued well-being of His Majesty The King.
Long live our Kings, and may the people of Bhutan continue to enjoy continued peace and prosperity.
