Cerberus Capital Management, a U.S.-based private equity firm, plans to invest an additional ₱15 billion (approximately $250 million) in the Philippines. The funds will support upgrades to the Agila Subic Shipyard and development of key infrastructure projects in logistics, energy, and transportation over the next year.

Cerberus previously acquired the 300-hectare shipyard—formerly Hanjin Shipyard—at the Subic Bay Freeport in 2022, investing $40 million to restart operations. The site has since evolved into a strategic hub, now hosting major players such as HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, SubCom, V2X, and the Philippine Navy.

A notable development is HD Hyundai’s shipbuilding operations, now set to begin in late 2025—earlier than originally planned. Cerberus described this as a significant milestone in transforming the shipyard into a leading industrial and maritime center.

MRT-7 TO CUT QUEZON CITY–BULACAN TRAVEL TO JUST 34 MINUTES!

After years of waiting, the long-delayed MRT-7 is finally on track! This 22-kilometer railway line—stretching from North Avenue, Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan—is expected to slash travel time to just 34 minutes, from the usual hours-long commute.

The project features 14 key stations, serving major commercial hubs, residential areas, and government landmarks. Backed by San Miguel Corporation and operated in partnership with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), test runs begin end of 2025, with full operations by 2026.
