📰 Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO Alyona Getmanchuk for The Yomiuri Shimbun: “In addition to the bilateral cooperation so far, I am sincerely grateful that Japan is providing visible cooperation within the NATO framework.”
In an exclusive interview with The Yomiuri Shimbun, the Head of the Ukrainian Mission to NATO expressed gratitude for Japan’s continued support of Ukraine and welcomed Tokyo’s growing engagement within NATO mechanisms, including its participation in NSATU and contributions to NATO’s assistance initiatives for Ukraine.
💬 “Ukraine must maintain a strong defense capability to prevent advances by Russian forces in order to preserve its negotiating power in any talks with Russia aimed at ending the invasion”, Alyona Getmanchuk also noted.
Ambassador stressed that in a situation where defence is not going well, it is impossible to negotiate with Russia. Russia will not engage in serious negotiations unless it faces a strong counterpart. She also noted that now that Russian forces have lost their advantage on the battlefield, attacks using ballistic missiles are the only remaining strength for Putin.
