Ambassador IZAWA met with Ambassador Alyona Getmanchuk of the Mission of Ukraine🇺🇦 to NATO.

Their discussion covered the current situation in Ukraine, Japan's support for Ukraine through NATO, and the way toward peace following the latest peace consultations led by the United States🤝

伊澤大使は、アリョーナ・ゲトマンチュクNATOウクライナ代表部大使🇺🇦と会談しました。

会談では、ウクライナ情勢及び日本も参画するNATOを通じたウクライナ支援について意見交換を行いました🤝。また、米国による和平に向けた取組を踏まえ、ウクライナにおける公正かつ永続的な平和の実現に向けた今後の展望について、率直な意見交換を行いました。

𝐃𝐚𝐲 2️⃣ 𝐌𝐏 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐎: 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐎 𝐏𝐀
On the final day of their visit, the MP's visited the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA), where they met with NATO PA Secretary General Benedetta BERTI.

The discussion highlighted the vital role of the NATO PA as a democratic bridge between NATO and the national parliaments of Allies and partners. Parliamentary dialogue is essential to strengthening mutual understanding, democratic accountability and support for the Alliance.

Afterwards the delegation met with Darya SAFAI, Head of the Belgian 🇧🇪 Delegation at the NATO PA, over lunch to discuss different challenges facing the international security environment.

2️⃣日目️⃣ 国会議員団のNATO訪問：NATO-PA

訪問最終日には、国会議員団がNATO加盟国国会議員会議（NATO-PA）を訪問し、NATO PA事務局長のベネデッタ・ベルティ事務局長と会談しました。

NATOと加盟国およびパートナー国の議員間における民主的な架け橋として、 NATO-PAの極めて重要な役割が確認されました。議員間における対話は、相互理解、民主主義、そしてNATOとそのパートナーへの支持を強化するために不可欠なものです。

ベルティ事務局長は、NATO-PA日本代表団長として継続的な貢献とリーダーシップを発揮している中谷議員に対し、感謝を伝えました。最後に、両者は、日本とNATO間の協力を強化する上で、議会による継続的な関与の重要性を再確認しました。

その後、NATO-PAのベルギー🇧🇪代表団長であるダリヤ・サファイ氏と会談し、各国議会の役割について議論を交わしました。

𝐃𝐚𝐲 2️⃣ 𝐌𝐏 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐎: 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐌𝐂 𝐂𝐀𝐕𝐎 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐄
Thursday morning, the MP’s headed to the HQ once more, to meet with the Chair of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Giuseppe CAVO DRAGONE. This was again a warm reunion for MP NAKATANI, as the two met almost exactly a year ago in Tokyo.

The meeting, which took place one week after the 28th Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence Conference which the CMC attended, highlighted that the security of the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic are inseparable.

They further discussed the increasing practical cooperation between Japan and NATO. through the deployment of JSDF personnel to key NATO institutions like the NATO International Military Staff, NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, and NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU).

2️⃣日目️⃣ 国会議員団のNATO訪問：CAVO DRAGONE軍事委員会議長との会談

木曜日の午前、国会議員団は再び 、NATO軍事委長のジュゼッペ・カヴォ・ドラゴーネ提督と会談しました。中谷議員にとっては、ほぼ1年前に東京で会談して以来となる再会であり、今回も温かい再会となりました。

軍事委員長が参加した第28回インド太平洋国防長官会議から1週間後に開催されたこの会談では、インド太平洋と欧州・大西洋地域の安全保障が不可分であることが強調された。

さらに、NATO国際軍事スタッフ、NATOサイバー防衛協力センター・オブ・エクセレンス、NATOウクライナ安全保障支援・訓練（NSATU）といった主要なNATO機関への自衛隊要員の派遣を通じた、日本とNATO間の実務協力の拡大についても議論が行われた。

As Belgium sits at the heart of NATO and the EU, it provides an excellent hub for companies in the defence industry to connect, explore opportunities for cooperation, and address the complex challenges facing the international security environment.

To this end, the MPs met with representatives of several Belgian defence companies at the offices of Agoria - Belgian Security & Defence Industry.

Later, we hosted a meeting at the Ambassador’s Residence, bringing together several of Japan’s leading companies to exchange views on the opportunities and challenges they face as they expand their business into a new region.

1️⃣日目️⃣ 国会議員団のベルギー防衛産業訪問
ベルギーはNATOおよびEUの中心に位置しており、防衛産業が連携・協力し、国際安全保障環境が直面する複雑な課題に取り組むための拠点となっています。

この度、議員団はAgoria-BSDIの事務所で、ベルギーの防衛産業数社の代表者と会談しました。

夕刻には、伊澤大使公邸で、日本の主要な防衛関連企業１４社を招き、新たな地域への事業拡大に際して直面する機会や課題について意見交換を行いました。

Later in the day, the MP’s met with Secretary General Mark RUTTE.

For MP NAKATANI it was a warm reunion, having first met Secretary General RUTTE in 2025 during his first visit to the Indo-Pacific region as NATO Secretary General.

The discussion underlined the strategic importance of NATO’s partnership with Japan to address security challenges across the Euro-Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific regions.

9日午後、議員団一行はマーク・ルッテ事務総長と会談を行いました。

中谷議員は、2025年にルッテ事務総長がNATO事務総長として初めて日本を訪問した際に面会されており、温かい再会となりました。

Yesterday, Ambassador IZAWA received a delegation from the House of Representatives led by NAKATANI Gen, Head of the Japanese Delegation 🇯🇵 to the NATO PA along with Tosh*taka Ooka and ITO Satoshi at the airport✈️

Over the next 2️⃣ days, the group will meet with several high-level officials to get a better understanding of the security situation facing the .

Early this morning the MP’s drove to Sint-Truiden to visit droneport.eu, a drone testing site which used to host a Belgian Air Force base, and now has become a hub for drone technology development💡

昨日、伊澤大使は、 NATO加盟国国会議員会議（NATO PA）の日本代表団🇯🇵団長である中谷議員、そして大岡敏孝議員と伊藤聡議員を日米欧総合安全保障議員協議会の議員団として、空港✈️で出迎えました。

今後2️⃣日間、一行はNATO 高官と会談し、欧州大西洋地域 が直面する安全保障情勢について理解を深める予定です。

9日朝、議員団一行はdroneport.euを訪問するため、シント＝トルイデンへ向かかいました。このドローンポートは、ベルギー空軍基地を改修したドローン試験場で、ドローンの技術開発のハブとなっています💡

State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII attended a working lunch with H.E. Ms. Éléonore CAROIT, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, who is visiting Japan. They followed up on the discussions during the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), and exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional affairs.
