NDC Belgium Executives Meet Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman in Brussels
Brussels, Belgium – October 10, 2025:
Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Belgium Chapter held a special meeting with Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, during her official visit to Brussels. The engagement provided an invaluable opportunity for the Chapter to interact directly with the Vice President and discuss matters of party organization, diaspora inclusion, and national development.
The meeting opened with formal introductions and a warm welcome address from the Chapter’s leadership, followed by the presentation of a memorandum outlining key proposals and priorities. In their remarks, the executives thanked the Vice President for taking time from her demanding schedule to meet with them, describing her humility, wisdom, and exemplary leadership as a great source of inspiration to Ghanaians abroad.
The Chapter reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the NDC’s mission through advocacy, mobilization, and professional expertise. The memorandum presented touched on employment support for families in Ghana, recognition and inclusion of diaspora chapters in national decision-making, enhanced communication between the diaspora and government institutions, and tangible assistance for sustaining party work abroad.
In her response, Professor Opoku-Agyeman expressed deep appreciation for the dedication, sacrifices, and loyalty of Ghanaians in the diaspora, acknowledging their vital contributions to the NDC’s success. “Your sacrifices and continued commitment have not gone unnoticed,” she said. “You stood by the party through thick and thin, and that dedication has helped us come this far.”
She urged members to remain active in national affairs and to encourage their relatives at home to formally affiliate themselves with the NDC, noting that such relationships strengthen the party’s grassroots base and create opportunities for capable individuals to serve. The Vice President also emphasized the importance of discipline and respect for party structures, reminding members that effective organization and adherence to hierarchy are essential for unity and progress.
“We may not be perfect,” she remarked, “but together we can improve our systems, strengthen our relationships, and build the Ghana we all want.”
The meeting ended on a high note, with mutual expressions of gratitude and renewed determination to strengthen collaboration between the government and NDC chapters abroad. Participants described the encounter as uplifting, purposeful, and a reaffirmation of the values of unity, service, and shared responsibility that underpin the NDC’s vision.
