What about the beer museum ?
Probably you wonder why it’s so silent regarding our beer museum. We made indeed big progress with setting it up and planned to open the doors at the end of last year. But then the owner of the warehouse we are renting it from said a big ‘njet’ when he heard about our plans. Probably because he would eventually need to overhaul the leaking roof once it receives a public function instead of being a private warehouse. So there we are, with a one of a kind beer experience but no one is allowed to visit it.
But we’re not giving up because of this set back and we’re at the lookout for another suitable location for our collection. Moreover, we’re having another plan regarding beer in the pipeline. We’ll announce that when it’s all ready to go. We’re excited about this one…..
But no worries, beer stories from around the world will keep coming to your mailbox and soon my next report of my latest ‘beer experience’ will arrive.

Tombstone beers in England
After a long pause, I take up the tread again of stories about interesting ‘beer experiences’ around the
world. This time I didn’t go far to discover something new : an English beer festival.
It all happened in Great Yarmouth, a lovely English coastal city not far from Norwich on the eastern
coast. I found my way to a lovely pub downtown named ‘Tombstone’. Their own brewed beers were
served here from the barrels behind the bar. A strange name for an English pub indeed and it turned out
that the microbrewery itself was next to the local cemetery with a view on the many tombstones.....
hence the name of the brewery.
But of course, this is not so appealing for the potential beer lovers drinking their beer, so for the logo
and advertisement they looked to the West, to the American Wild West town with the similar name
‘Tombstone’..... hence the American style of the pub and the music played. What a story and the beer
was quite good.....
Wonder what these black covers are around the barrels ? These are water cooled blankets where
running tap water is circulating in order to keep the barrels and the beer inside a bit cooler. First time I
see this cooling method.
The bar man had a particular way of filling up the glasses from the barrels and creating some foam top
of the beer which disappeared quickly though. But it was worth the try as you know that British beers
are infamous for not having a foam head.
