USE-IT Mons

USE-IT Mons is tourist info for young people Mons. In our jail. Did we mention our biggest hero is a dragon (how cool is that?).

Unless you're Belgian, or really into the NATO (their European military headquarters are really close to us) you've probably never heard of our little city-on-a-mountaintop. If you're an art historian, you may know that Vincent Van Gogh once lived in Mons and Paul Verlaine wrote some of his best poetry here. We're also the city that gave Belgium its first gay prime minister, a guy from immigrant d

escent, who doesn't leave home without a bow tie. Apart from that, we're a cute little city, with cobblestone alleys (for romantic strolls), lots of green inside and outside of the city walls (for romantic lay-arounds), cute little medieval houses, a good modern art museum and a vivid student-party culture. Oh, and we'll be European Cultural Capital in 2015, which means there will be lots of exhibitions, music and happenings all over the cobblestones. So come and have some local chinchin-liquor, ask us about the dragon, and make some new BFF.

The kids from USE-IT Tbilisi (Georgia) need your help. On the day they started making the USE-IT Map of Tbilisi, a terrible flood hit the city. So no more city money for making maps - quite understandably the city council first wants to help out everyone who got hit by the flood.
